I think this will be helpful to people. I've gone ahead and cataloged the times Dream Act was introduced ever since its inception in 2001. The Republicans controlled Congress 2001-2006, and the bill saw no progress during that time. When the Democrats took over in 2007, Sen. Durbin tried to pass the Dream Act, but the bill was filibustered by the Republicans. With the increased Democratic majority in 2009, we hope to pass the Dream Act this year.

The subsequent info came from the Library of Congress website:

107th Congress 2001-2002 - S.1291 Dream Act introduced August 1, 2001

Quote:
S.1291
Title: A bill to amend the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to permit States to determine State residency for higher education purposes and to authorize the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain alien college-bound students who are long term United States residents.
Sponsor: Sen Hatch, Orrin G. [UT] (introduced 8/1/2001) Cosponsors (18 )
Latest Major Action: 6/20/2002 Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar No. 425.
108th Congress 2003-2004 - S.1525 Dream Act introduced July 31, 2003

Quote:
S.1545
Title: A bill to amend the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to permit States to determine State residency for higher education purposes and to authorize the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain alien students who are long-term United States residents.
Sponsor: Sen Hatch, Orrin G. [UT] (introduced 7/31/2003) Cosponsors (47)
Latest Major Action: 2/9/2004 By Senator Hatch from Committee on the Judiciary filed written report. Report No. 108-224. Additional views filed.
Senate Reports: 108-224

109th Congress 2005-2006 - S.2075 Dream Act introduced November 18, 2005

Quote:
S.2075
Title: A bill to amend the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to permit States to determine State residency for higher education purposes and to authorize the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain alien students who are long-term United States residents and who entered the United States as children, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen Durbin, Richard [IL] (introduced 11/18/2005) Cosponsors (27)
Related Bills: H.R.5131
Latest Major Action: 11/18/2005 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
110th Congress 2007-2008 - S.774 Dream Act introduced March 6, 2007

There was the revised Dream, S.2205, that was ultimately voted on (and filibustered in 2007), but for our purposes, Dream was first introduced on March 2007 of the 110th Congress.

I see somewhat of a pattern here, every other year perhaps? 2009 would be next!

^Every Congress lasts for 2 years, that's why it's every other year.

Blogs are always a main source of getting accurate information and provide you the handy results; you can get instant and reliable information which surely helps you in any field of your concern. I am post graduate in IT and HR. These days I am doing preparation of different online certifications and I found testking guide is the best helping source which is providing 100% authentic material. I also spend my extra time in surfing internet, listening music and playing games. After my exams I would like to join your group.
