Hey guys,

I have a social security number but it says on the card that it is not "valid for employment". Is there any way in which I CAN validate it?

I am undocumented as well, so I have no idea if there is a way I can alleviate this problem.

Would any of you guys happen to know?

there really isnt a way for it to be validated other than through legalization. i used to have an SSN card that said the exact same thing ( i think my parents got it for tax purposes)

but when i received an EAD (employment authorization document) i was able to get another SSN card with the words "valid for employment with DHS authorization"...

and the only way you can get an EAD is when you are in the process of adjustment of status.

too bad i couldnt complete the process and I am back in square one.

I'm a college graduate and i have the same card that says not valid for employment. When i tried to apply to large companies they wanted to see my card, but I found a job at a small company and all they asked for was my social security number. So I handed that in. I'm on the payroll and so far there has been no problems. It's been over a year I've been working at the place. I'm very thankful and keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck looking for a job!

I think most people who have entered legally early-mid 90s, on a visit visa or something should have this, especially if they tried to do some type of adjustment and it failed.

you can use your ITIN/SSN card number regardless of what it says on the card.
