Have you tried getting a Tax Id Number? You can use that for a bank account.. Not for work.. but it's a step better than nothing.

And to all you lucky bitches that DO have socials.. You can definitely use that for work.. as long as you don't have to show your card, they won't know, the number still works fine.. But it depends where you work.. Some people still don't care if it says "Not Valid for Employment" and will STILL hire you.. Test the waters..see what works.

Would any of you guys happen to know?
The only way to have a "valid with DHS authorization" SS card is to have an EAD,but if you have a Green Card or US citizenship it says nothing & therefore is unrestricted.

You can't "validate" it unless you have work authorization from USCIS.

in the back of the card it says that if we dont have authorization to work and use the SSN anyway we will be REPORTED to INS/DHS. sooooo i'm not trying it out!

How did you manage to get a DL with just a SSN? I am in CA and have tried without success.

WAIT!!

you CAN get a drivers license if your ssc says not valid for work??? back when I got mine via texas when I was 16, we had to get some letter from some office ( yes i was 16 and did not know i wasnt legal- thus paid no attention) anyway, my parents had always said I couldnt use my card for anything just number.

who has done this??? what d they ask? wat is the process?

My DL expired in 04'. I do have a bank account ( that was Gods work I swear) and credit cards, health insurance etc..... just need ID, hell I live in nyc, and am possibly the worst driver known to man- all I want is a non drivers license state ID/

Yeah, I'm just applying for whatever jobs and seeing what I can get away with. No use in just waiting around. It's a lot more frustrating that way!
