I was just wondering if is there a way to have an immigration interview when processing for green car without leaving the country. I came here in 2004 by the way and i know that it is required to leave but is there a way to stay?

It depends on your current situation.You never mentioned how you entered the US or what the benefit was based on.

Who petitioned you? Was it before April 2001?

I see,then there is currently no option but to leave.How old are you,BTW ?If you're under 18 1/2 do not hesitate about returning as you can still acquire the benefit.Obviously consult a lawyer first,but it would be a pretty good bet that you can acquire the benefit since you don't have any immigration bars IF under 18 1/2 currently.

245i requires two things ;

1.That the principal applicant has properly filed before April 31st,2001 and

2.The applicant in question was in the US before Dec. 21st,2000

The second qualification disqualifies any possible 245i eligibility due to the OP mentioning,"I came here in 2004".

I am 17 and going to be 18 this July. I've got some letters from immigration to pay $70 and some people have told me that after that then the interview comes.

^^If this is the case you're alright.You could leave and return without issue due to:

1.No immigration bars being applicable to anyone your age
2.You are entitled to a benefit as an immediate relative to a permanent resident upon your return making a strong case for family unity AND for your eventual legal return to the US.
