Hi my name is kevin and I am currently 21 years old. I currently attend a local community college here in Queens, NY.
I was brought to the United States by my mother in 1994 and was clueless about being legal was.
Now that I am older, I understand how difficult life can be when you are an undocumented student. Right now I am able to go to school thanks to my mother and her hard earned money.
Currently I am on the Deans list in my school and hoping to join the USMC Officer Candidate School after graduation.
If the DREAM act is passed then I will be grateful that it will allow me to fufill my dreams.

Welcome to DAP. I was hoping to join the military and become an officer as well but if DREAM Act gets passed you will only be able to join the Marines but not enter Officer Candidate school because only U.S. Citizens are allowed. You can chose to see if you qualify for Officer Candidate school only after you have finished your first contract and you are a citizen already. Good Luck!

Well, if you're going to join CUNY then fall semester starts around eary september, and since you're coming from miami, you're going to have to pay out of state tuition. If theres any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks men ... but how much is rent up there?? how much money should I take with me to survive the first couple months ..? Do i need a car? and lastly , let say the dream act is passed this year ( HOPEFULLY !!!), when can I start to pay instate tuition in New York? I know that am still going to be out state student because i don't reside in new york , but I heard that if you live 1 year straight you can then be change to instate, is this true?

well rent usually depends on where you live, if you want to live in the city expect to pay alot, but if you decide to live in another borough, its alot cheaper. Transportation isnt really a problem since most buses and trains run all day and night but it really depends on where you live and what school you attend. I'm not too sure bout the in-state tuition, but most likely its going have to be more than 1 year.
