Alright I was reading the Georgia Driver's Manual and I came up to this.

If you are currently attending a Georgia School, and have proof of out of state tuition you DO NOT HAVE TO obtain a Georgia Driver's License. For example Insurance, 8 year New Mexico or Washington DL; and Proof of out of state tuition ( if you do not have a SSN and live in GA your are already paying out of state tuition)

I was relieved to find this. Hope this helps anyone out there that is going to college in GA and has been thinking about making the Trip to get a license. This might also apply to other states you would have to check it out.

Source: Georgia Department of Drive Services (DDS)

Page 12, under NOT REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GA DRIVER'S LICENSE

-Any nonresident of Georgia who is attending a school in this state, as long as
a. He or she is at least 16 years of age and has in his or her immediate possession a valid license issued to him or her in his or her home state or country and a valid international driving permit if the license is in a language other than English(HAHA English is spelled wrong in the Driver's Manual FAIL!!);provided, however, that any restricitons which would apply to a Georgia driver's license apply to the privileges giving to this person; and
b. He or she is currently enrolled or was enrolled during the immediately preceding period of enrollment in a school in this state, has paid the tuition charged by school to nonresidents of GA for the current or immediately preceding period of enrollment, and has in his or her possession proof of payment of such tuition paid for the current or immediately preceding period of enrollment.

I have heard that the cops get crazy about pulling people over in GA who have out of state licenses even if they are documented. I doubt if your license will do you much good if you are pulled over in one of the counties--like Gwinnett County--where they have been enforcing the an Arizona-like law for a while now.

Gwinnett is alright actually. It really depends on which parts of G-county you're talking about. Just don't go to Hall County lol

Georgia is str8. I don't know about Gwinnett but Alpharetta is a bitch. I'll be going to college down south in statesboro i havent heard anything bad from there. If anything i'll just say " I'm paying out of state tuition so money is real hard on me right now, in the handbook it told me that if i was paying out of state tuition i would not need to get a GA license and i could keep my other one."

there is nothing you can do to get a drivers license in Georgia.

the point made by the original post was that by paying "out of state tuition" as an undocumented college student in the state of Georgia, that person is able to drive in the state of Georgia using a Drivers License from another state.

I LIVE IN COBB. A part of me dies every time I see bright lights or every call we get telling us to stay out of certain streets because of Police Blitz. I hate Cobb County with a passion.
