Using tax payer ID number instead of Social at DMV

I currently have an expired license and I can't renew due to not having a Social Security. I know it's required in order to renew it, however I was thinking about using my tax payer ID number. How does the validation system work at DMV?

I lurked as hard as I could in order to find out a way to get a Social and it's basically impossible (otherwise we'd all be driving right?)

I find it funny that on the official government website it says: "You do not need a number to get a driver’s license, register for school, obtain private health insurance, or to apply for school lunch programs or subsidized housing," yet I can't apply.

Anyone have any ideas? I know I could always opt for a license from Washington or New Mexico, but it would be a huge drain on my income and I might not have a job again if I were to leave and then come back.
