I know that this is a hard line to walk. It's not pretty or fun for anyone and honestly, it's mentally exhausting. But I don't just see now; I see my future, or rather what I want my future to be. I see the ultimate goal, the reason behind all of this struggle. Maybe it's the fear or leaving this country and venturing into the unknown or maybe it's the fact that I too now have my own vision of the American Dream, regardless of whether or not it's attainable, but I don't want to leave. This country is home to me. Despite the abuse that we have to face, this is where I want to be.
Call me naive but I think there's something great waiting all of us. I believe that everything happens for a reason and we're all facing this struggle for a reason. I can't tell you the reason because I obviously don't know it but I think that we're meant to go through this struggle and later in life use it to fuel all of our dreams. To make us appreciate something that most people take for granted.
I get depressed and scared all the time but I don't want to just leave and not just because I'm past 18 1/2 years old.
God only gives us the life that we're strong enough to handle. This means we're all so strong, even if we're all constantly hanging by a thread.
But in the end, what I'll say is: do what you think is right because this is your life and you're the one who has to deal with the consequences.
