you can't fly with an expired id my friend. your asking for trouble. go to your consulate and get yourself a new passport that you can use to travel... can you take the bus or have someone drive you to wherever you need to go.. good luck!!

I have used it the past 6 years with no trouble at all, flying 2-3 times a year. I think due to the right to gly with no id rule that is now no longer in place( i think). I also dont look much like a threat, look like most of us- american, no accent, no other culture really. the use of passport with no visa is more scary to me.

ahhhh I dont know!! I will call the Ny bar asso. after the holiday!

think im just letting fear get the best of me.....also not really going to immigrant-friendly states..

I just joined the DAP recently and have been really grateful for all the information in all these threads. So, is it safer to travel by flight or to use Amtrak? I really need to go to NYC, and I don't know what to do! Pls, pls, someone, I need help! Living in the shadows is sOOOOO miserable. Can't do anything, can't go to school, can't work, just STUCK, completely STUCK, helpless & useless!!!

Anyways, I really need to make this trip, and I want to know which is the safer option? My visa & I-94 expired years ago; I came here young. I have a valid passport, but I don't know if they check all those things in the airport. Pls, someone, anyone, Help!!!!!

Ok so my flight from nyc to houston went as usua i showed them my DL( Expired in 04) she asked for secondary I gave my Credit card, debit card, my health insurance freelancers card.

She just had her supervisor come over look at everything then write ssss on my boarding pass, and I got to bypass loooong line at check in- they did a swab check in my carryon suitcase and a wand check ( also an a family of 4 was getting checked and a man in wheelchair)

I also made sure I was dressed well, hair and make up done, acted sweet and polite.

I dont have any accent of any kind, and look like the girl next door- so I do think this helps.

Flying back tomorrow! expecting the same results

I have an expired texas Dl (04). In the past I have used as secondary, when asked, my College ID, My credit/debit cards, my health insrance card, and a nyc private school caregiver card for work with photo . This has all be sufficent in the past- ofcourse extra bag check but im used to that.

my fear is one lawyer a few months ago said not to travel ever. and i was like whatever. then he said there was astry about a boy on spring break who got questioned and ICE at airport have these computers all they do is enter your name and can see your status- he got detained.

I am currently in process of working on U-visa, the org doing it is thru the NYC bar assocation they said it was fine to fly, much safer than bus. and not to worry but at same time keep thier number on me. but they said they arent looking for that unless your a safety threat at airports.

Im confused!! I also heard about new ID screenings, advanced ones this year..

Any tips, or help!!

is it ok?? i have the past 6 years from NYC to houston fine.

thanks guys!
My sister just flew earlier this year with just her Mexican passport, would just be sure to understand whats the worst that could happen and be ok with it, my sis understood that there was a change of getting detained. With that said really all they check is that its you and you have Identification after all you are already here in the US.
