I'm just saying what all of us feel. You are happy for a person when something like this happens but you cannot help feeling just a tiny tinge of resentment because you wish that it was you instead. Don't tell me you are jumping out of your seat for him and throwing parties. I am happy for him, but I'm still upset about how my life is. I don't know if I explained myself correctly. Hopefully somebody understands what I'm saying.

And geez, take it down a notch guys.
You still don't get it do you? You should be glad that you weren't in his position because how the hell would you react to being in the spotlight with everyone knowing who you are and what your immigration status is? How would you react to being detained and being uncertain about your future? Exactly.... so shut up and just feel happy for the poor dude whose gone through hell.

Apparently, some people don't know what it means to take it down a notch. I wonder if this is how you react to anyone with a different opinion than yours.

I guess I'm just also thinking about a lot of other young people that have been detained and caught, but through a lot of hard work they were not deported. However, they were not given work permits or other chances; all they got was an extension on their deportation proceedings. (Herta Llusho, Noe Guzman, Alonso Chehade)

i was just busy finishing up school. im sorry to see that you still have a grudge against me even though ive no clue who you are.

anyway, im not here to incite any old flames i mightve had with some of the members here. we're all just frustrated with our situation and the whole waiting game.

i cant believe after all these years, DREAM Act is still being bogged down by politics.

What school are you doing? umm... the article is indeed correct. you have to be here before you turn 16:

Quote:
(A) the alien has been physically present in the United States for a continuous period of not less than 5 years immediately preceding the date of enactment of this Act, and had not yet reached the age of 16 years at the time of initial entry;
It has always been the case.

I actually understand what you are saying. And I honestly don't think you are NOT happy for him. Of course you are, but you're still left standing.

Yes, exactly. I guess that's what I was trying to say but couldn't put into words. And it's the same for anyone here who gets to attain legal status. Congrats, I'm happy for you.

But in the end, I still worry and I'm still lost because of my situation. You may think it's selfish, but how can you not feel the same way?

I guess the word is bittersweet.

It isn't fair that some people get legal status due to going to high profile schools or raising hell about deportation on facebook and such, while others who are just as worthwhile are ignored.

That is an incontrovertable fact, and we do not have to be "happy" about it.
