I am planning to go down to San francisco from phoenix through a one-way trip via Greyhound bus. I just found out from net searching that there has been ICE raid on Greyhound buses and I want to know in my case, I have my valid passport from HK/China but missing a valid visa, would ICE have the right to detent me if they get to see it???

Someone told me I might able to get away by going different routes, like taking Las Vegas to San Francisco via Greyhound. But I looked up the trip plan and it also goes through places like San Bernado and San Jose, which I am not sure if they have checkpoint and border control.

Please advice as I have family emergency needed to attend in SF... Thank you!!!!

I knew someone who took the bus from Illinois to LA. The only people who stopped her were the Minutemen in San Bernardino, who took the initiative of asking "US citizen? US?" to everyone who left the bus. Other than that, she didn't need a visa to travel on Greyhound, just her passport.

Yeah, me neither. I was going form Denver to 'Burque last winter and as we rolled into the bus stop in 'Burque, I saw two white Homeland Sec, ICE buses parked, with the lights on, and the shades up. We didn't get questioned by anyone (probably because it was a route heading south), but I was still really nervous.

Just don't do it, get on craigslist and find a ride with someone.

You know if you just say the words "I am a US Citizen" and nothing else there is absolutely nothing ICE can do to you for just sitting/riding on a greyhound bus.

Now whether or not you've got the actual balls to pull this off is another story.
