so a high school acquaintance of mine told me that he works for this company, they have a building located nearby down town(I live near by) so, apparently you are hired as an "independent contractor" you chose your hours, ok my question is does this sound like a scam company?

thanks in advance

no disrespect, but HAHAHHA. Me and a bunch of my friends got "job offers" from them straight out of high school. I knew it was a scam but a few of my friends went to an "interview" which was really them and others who fell for it all in the same room being informed about the company. You have to buy your own stuff and then try to sell it (it's knives if i'm not mistaken). Yeah..they offer good pay at entry level, and room for a higher position. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Do they hire everyone? YES.

Do they intentionally mislead you into accepting the job? YES.

Can you make $$$ if you take it seriously? Yes

What you do is set up appointments with people and do in home presentations for Cutco Knives. It is commission based, so if you don't sell you don't make money. I do know of people who make over $1000 a week only working weekends. Once you've been there for about 3 months you will earn 50% of your sales. The basic knife set cost like $1000 so if you sell two of those u've got your $1000 right there.

Destino, I've been with Vector for nine years and know that it's not a scam.
It's not your everyday 'job' where you just show up and get paid, no matter how productive you are. The pay is per appointment, and is GUARANTEED WHETHER OR NOT YOU MAKE A SALE. It is not a 'commission only' position. Obviously, our reps want to sell because they make more when they do. Most people use our company as a stepping stone to get good sales experience that will help them later in life.

Its not a scam, I did it as well with Cutco knives when I was in high school.

The thing is they pay you regardless of if you make a sale or not and more if you do so. since Im of asian decent, I mostly have asian people around me. Try getting a asian family to spend $1000 on a set of knives.

It got so embarassing since family would have a hard time telling me no seeing how hard I was trying and top of that I was getting paid for not selling. The guilt of getting paid when I wasnt making sales finally made me quit.
