^Speaking of the rally, I just donated 30 smackers to the cause. (Yay me!)

angie, I'd suggest you try dreamactivist.org, but they aren't responding to emails.

on topic:

“We need to do comprehensive immigration reform,” Reid said. “We cannot do it piecemeal.”

i went to DC back in 2009 screaming "si se puede" like a jackass.. ah the 2009, the YEAR for the dream... oh man it was the year.

you all think it makes any difference... u can go scream ur lungs out every day and u can go do ur hunger strikes or ur trail of dreams.. but it dont matter!.. we get the 15 min of fame from time to time, but WHO cares, bills get passed by votes, not by t.v ratings. when a senator is against it, stop trying to change his mind... nd the ones who do support it; dont think they do it out of the goodness of their little hearts, they do it cause they have an interest.

i've been to these things since 2007... nun has changed. i've gotten my hopes up every year believing that the time has come. u get tired after a while, not so much physically; but mentally. but w/e this was just my opinion...

yes, i am tired already. i've been following it for a year almost, trying to promote awareness. but people just think i'm complaining and should stop it.

i guess drawing attention to it does help in a way though b/c it changes public opinion. dream increased in popularity in polls these recent years. but you're right that there is a lot of political interest involved and that it is kind of out of our hands.

This is exactly it.

We can't force the hand of politicians, but we can drawing peoples' attention. We can solicit thoughts and feelings. People who were ignorant about it now know.

It's essential that we do what we can to shape public opinion after we get peoples' attention.

Even if these people won't protest or march alongside us, the fact that legislators know "My constituents want justice for DREAMers" will force them to vote yes.

go and ask any citizen in ANY country this question "would you like to widen the doors so more people can come in this country"... and their answer is gonna be "hell no, no one is taking my job"...

its in the human nature to say "mine, that's mine, i want this and i want more"... so i dont get these stupid polls: "would u favor amnesty for illegals"... wtf. unless your a business owner and depend on a GDP growth to buy ur product... trust me you wouldn't want anyone coming in to compete for your job or starting the same business next door to give u competition.

the people who who support amnesty, are usually business owners who already hire nun-Americans to do their job. or family members who know someone who is in limbo. other than that; why would ur average American middle class worker support more people coming in. its called protectionism. the thing with the nativists has been around since the founding of this nation. KKK were marching on the streets of NY saying "keep the Italians out, those dirty Italians"... and if you read 1920's articles; you'll read the same crap u read today: "overpopulation, immigrants taking our jobs, they bring their filthy culture, they don't learn the language".... oh come on lets be real.
