That's weird. Your petition hasn't been approved but your visa is current? What category are you?

we're f4 for mexico PD of June 1999, does anyone think itll get to 97 considering they keep going back maybe they can go foreward again from where they last left off ??

Lots of questions so here goes
You have to wait till the family petition is approved and priority date current before you can go to the next event,filing an I-485 for adjustment of status[Green card interview,basically].The approved application I-130 is just to showcase that the US government through USCIS recognize the family tie is considered official through an approval and thus you are categorized under the FB category based upon the relationship.
The other categories aren't moving as much is because maybe the removal of the Dominican Republic from "All the world" category wasn't really a burden there, therefore you don't see an advancement or self-adjustment of the system to reflect that through priority dates.
That would completely depend on the US embassies in Mexico and USCIS in what they report back to the State dept. with regards to statistics concerning approval numbers from that particular country.The question you have to ask yourself is do think that the country in question will go over its allotted visa numbers,expect retrogression further.If it meets the numbers or does not reach the allotted numbers expect the system to advance priority dates.

Regardless,No one can say what the statistics from month to month will look like.

I turn 22 next month. My parents lawyer said he didnt know if CSPA recognized 4th preference, which seems like a weird thing not to know... I dont think he's such a great lawyer...

I just did the calculator (thanks) and my CSPA date is def under 18, because I-130 also took forever! (like 5 years...)

I'm just worried about whatcould happen if A) My application gets rejected (for whatever random reason). What happens if your I-485 gets rejected? Do you get deported or something?

B) The visa bulletin will retrogress like it did for Mexico and there will actually be less visas available then before...

Anybody have experience with either of those?


I'm a derivative beneficiary, doing it through my mother. What about you? I'm really anxious about what will happen... What kind of weird stuff might make them deny it?

I'm happy My family's employment category moved forward about eight months or so, and is about 2 years away from the priority date, Dec 2004. If it keeps moving at this pace then it may actually happen before I get out of college
