I don't usually respond with a sarcastic laugh, but I really had to restrain myself this time.

I don't feel like I'm reading opinions from immigrants, but instead, the average ignorant american, who doesn't know much of other people's cultures. I thought everyone here would be more ingaged, knowledgeable about other immigrants, but evidently not.

I wonder when have americans ever had a "lazy mexican" image on their minds. Are you sure that's what nativists despise about mexicans? Mexicans have for more than quarter of a century migrated en masse because of better job opportunities, are you sure it's not just your opinion?

I don't even know if I should take this person serious. People do have personality traits depending on where they're from, but in no way does it define them as people. You truely have to be a stubborn ignorant to be an illegal immigrant, advocate for illegal immigrants, yet stereotype illegal immigrants.

Quote:
"From the perspective of the DREAM Act, we must highlight our intelligence. This is NOT done by staging pathetic sit-ins and hunger-strikes, for as anyone who has taken a high school political science class knows, such acts of demonstration are bar none, the most ineffective way of influencing legislation."
What about Ghandi, Cesar Chavez and many others? Do you think if we had a voice, in other words, if we were LEGAL, we'd be doing Sit-ins? Hunger strikes? Fortunately, for those privileged to be USCs, they don't need to resort to those forms of protest, because there are other ways that are more effective.

Quote:
"Furthermore, we must dissuade those of us with stereotypical Hispanic appearances and accents from speaking on our behalf."
I may have thought of things that may have had the same shade of stupidity, but not nearly as close. That's how we'd like to think that americans think. But they don't, they may have the passing thoughts just as everyone else does, but the higher brain takes over to know better. But not with this person. Rethink you're intelligence, because there's no way we're highlighting that.

In no way do I want to be direspectful, but it's just infuriating and in a lot of ways dissapointing how 'fellow DREAMers' can be so out of touch with their own reality. By that I mean, the immigrant reality, those who have come here for a better life. Are we not advocating for tolerance, human rights and against bigotry? Then, what are we preaching?

And by the looks of the other posts and your original thread, it looks like the only embarrassment here is you.
I like this deflection. Again, please enlighten me on how you help in any way. What have you done aside from telling people on this forum to "quit complaining or do something"?

The irony stemming from one who instigated an argument. You claim to have no time to argue when the arguments originate from your baseless comments.
