Moreover, even conservatives are not as crazy when it comes to DREAM as when it comes to CIR, and I was asking to focus on DREAM first. Follow the link above, though, and you will find a lot of misinformation about DREAMers and what they want. If we don't challenge these lies, then people will just accept them. This is part of the reason why the politicians won't do anything, because everybody accepts lies about immigration and there is thus a large phalanx of people that are against doing anything except deporting.

In the end, what I was proposing is that people here do about as much as they are already doing on DAP. The only difference is that instead of posting here to a sympathetic audience, they post elsewhere too (a few comments a day) and challenge people that oppose us. If we have time to post responses here, why not on the comment section of immigration articles where we can challenge lies and reach a broader public? Why is that more wasted effort than what the majority of people already do on DAP?
Exactly.

There are so many more reasons to do this

1) People who support DA/CIR will see others and be encouraged by them.
2) People on the fence have a chance to read our side instead of the nativist side 24/7.
3) When the nativists read an intelligent, smart, reasonable, logical pro-DA/CIR viewpoint, they will feel like shutting up because they don't have an answer for it.

The best example of this problem is that I continually hear people saying from the right that Obama only wants his "amnesty" plan to get as many illegal voters for 2012 as he can get. They say this all the time on the right, despite that the soonest anyone would become a citizen is 11-15 years. I was listening to a local radio station in CA the other day, and they had a guy from the UFW on there talking about AgJobs. One of the callers called in and said it was all about getting Obama voters for 2012, and even the ignorant talk show host accepted that till the UFW guy pointed out it would be 15 years before citizenship. Then the haters couldn't say anything cause they were wrong. If we did that on a mass basis, maybe we could claim public support at the expense of the right, at which point the politicians will have to listen.

I'm totally on your side here. I just wish we had a way to make it happen. I can make a tutorial to compile immigration related news feeds for a start.

The wiki thing is a good idea too--I wouldn't know how to do that, though--but the real problem is that we need to get people to take two minutes to post comments to articles. I am not sure how to do that, since nobody is responding.

You're right. People need to find articles, register an account, think for themselves (most difficult part), and post a reasonable response.

Too much work for them.

But truthfully, it's fun too. Comments sections are like forums, where you interact with people.

By the way, where do you get your news articles from?

I like where this is going but there are already more than enough websites designed to inform people about the DA.

I find a lot of them here obviously, but there is a surprising amount of stuff that doesn't make it into the forum that is immigration related. Honestly, I think that reading a couple of major newspapers a day can yield a lot of good information: e.g., the Washington Post, LA Times, New York Times, my local paper. I also regularly check the cable websites (even Fox news, I know some people would look down on that here), because those are where a lot of average joe's get there news from. I also follow some of the better op-ed writers on immigration like Ruben Navarette. All of this makes you realize how much conservatives think they know about immigration, when they know very little.

It would help to have already written articulated counter arguments for the usual immigrant bashers. Stick to facts. Concentrate on the most neutral cites or the most widely read anti-immigrant news source.

Guys, please don't start from scratch. There is a pro-migrant blog group out there you can join forces with! Contact http://www.citizenorange.com/about1.html for more info.

Thanks for the suggestion Abaddon. I'm going to start working on something later today.
