I left the US and came to Mexico. I graduated with an engineering degree in the US and left the day after I graduated. I was not going to let my degree go to waste. I live a pretty happy and carefree life here in Mexico. The food is great. I have a good job, a girlfriend, a car...

and well... let me assure you that going back the the States as a tourist is certainly possible. Risky, but possible.

Iamtired where in Mexico are you ?

I agree with dreamact1982 because he is right. However, what about those dreamers that are stuck in a limbo and can't continue their studies. I know it would be a bad idea to return "home" with nothing. I for once would love to live in Europe. Unfortunately, I was born in Mexico. I'm not going to diss Mexico anymore because I don't know it. Yet, everyone around me and the media are constantly telling me how awful it is and that I'm going to get murdered lol

Everyone just has to create a life for themselves. What I am living right now is now life because I am doing nothing just waiting around

Ditto. Whether or not you can immigrate somewhere else is another thing, but the US is just not #1 for a lot of reasons. Even if I were here legally I would eventually think of immigrating somewhere else, but I guess it took me a while to come to that.

I'm leaving later this year as well, between Nov/Dec/Jan 1st. I had a private school scholarship fall through (because I couldn't fill out a fafsa). I'm now going back home (Uruguay) and doing engineering for $5500 usd a year at a private school. I get to do what I always wanted to do, and I get my freedom back

Ive heard of undocumented students filling out the fafsa. Not for money but just to show that they filled it out.

Right! I am so tired of people telling me if I go to Mexico, I am going to get my head chopped off by some cartel.

I rather go live in Cancun or Cozumel, work at a hotel and lounge around on the beach when I am not working. Lol.

You guys are right..Its stupid of me, alot of my peers do not have a EU passport....But i believe the EU is close to developing or has developed a green card/blue card-meaning if you have talent no criminal record- we want you..

You have to do research, remember US is not Europe....I speak to my parents to this day, i left 2 yrs ago and they say, its the best decision you made for your life, and i agree....To this day i would be waiting for dream act to pass....It pisses me off, when so many dreamers sacrifice their lives in US, and the US doesnt want them..

Just for example nursing..Geez move to France FOR example..you get like 2 months PAID holiday, great salary, i mean unbelievable steady live..

United States is a barn, it is not respected anymore, at least i dont respect it no more..Because i know i can have so much more away from it..

Im just talking about EU...Go to Australia! Americans are lining up just to get here
C

PS: Ill give you an example..for myfriend....... Why US is disrespected my friends ( I sound like McCain), went to Canada/US Niagara Falls...He was stopped by US Customs..He forgot his Passport from hotel...They took him to a Customs Building..They told him to sit down! lol My friend said no i dont feel like sitting down, ive been sitting down in plane during my trip..He showed his EU passport, the customs automatically calmed down, said ok ok you are free to go, just try to have passport next time....US seems are macho with big mouths

Lol. The bad stuff in Mexico is up north where there is territory conflicts. I am originally from Tamaulipas. I am not living there though.

From what I've heard, the cartels have always existed but lately they have been messing with each others territories. I live right in the center of Mexico, and drug cartels are not something I think about in my day to day.

Thank you for sharing your stories those of you that have left. I wish I could go to Australia!! EU is an option fro me, but still scary as hell..I've never been there.. and don't know anyone.

But I appreciate the stories shared to remind us, happiness does not only exist in the US. Come to think of it, many under developed countries are perfectly happy living simple lives and being close to those they love.

P.S: to the OP.. Your friend showed his EU passport and was let go? Was he in the US legally? Or did they let him go because he was European?
