sigh, well I freaked out because I didn't think about it much until I got to the test...I ended up lying on the application and just using my washington license, now I'm feel like I made a huge mistake...

I did really well on the Math, and ok on the English at least without studying...but I was never worried about my GRE score....

I am currently in a grad school in MN. I took GRE 2 years ago. As far as the status on the application I checked the box that says 'other'. I just took my driver license and it was ok. What I would do if I were you is I'd take driver license and student ID and just tell them at the test station that you didn't know that you had to bring your passport and say that you live far away from the station. They will probably let you take the test. Hope it helps. If you have any questions throw me an email. =)

I already took the test
It was way more in depth as far as legal status also, otherwise I would have done the same... I believe it even asked for Alien number or something.... I didn't have the option of just putting "Other"???? and their email specifically said they won't allow me to take the test without a valid passport.

unless you are planning on running solo, much of the thesis work is ""assigned"" by your advisor, so you end up using his funding.

If you are planning on flying solo, then you'd have to submit proposals to NSF, DOT, EPA, DARPA, ....(insert government/private agency that will likely take up your project). Be aware that most schools require clearance of said project and permission to seek sponsorship.

For the GRE you MUST use your country's passport as a valid form of ID. The matricula does not work. Also, it is very IMPORTANT that you register with the name exactly as it is written on your passport. For example: I registered as John Doe, but my passport says Joe Doe Sanchez---they will not let you take it because the name on your ID, ie passport does not match the name that you registered with, thus forfeiting your $200 and some change fee to take it.

It is really hard, make sure to study for it.

I wish I would have known that before >.<

I think I should go get my country's passport and call them up, and tell them I made a mistake, that I didn't exactly know what to put >.<

and I didn't think it was very hard at all...but I'm an electrical engineering major, and math is super easy for me...there is almost no way to prepare for the english part...they have so many crazy words...

the books cover most of the crazy words (kaplan's, barron's, etc..) and yeah math's kinda easy if you've taken engineering :P
