I guess there are a bunch of little kids going to DC to demand Obama to stop deportations.

Some guy came on the screen and actually said that the most important thing is to halt deportations, no dream act, no ag jobs, in order to make it fair to everyone when they bring up CIR

What?! Then, please explain staunch republican-backed measures like SB 1070, 287(g) and legislation targeting the citizen CHILDREN of immigrants. These two are not mutually exclusive.

With that kind of attitude, of course it won't. I just spent a week lobbying in DC - yes, the chances are slim, but they exist and if we continue to actively build momentum, there is a possibility it will pass. It's this kind of fatalist attitude that is screwing us over.

Um. Are you serious? Did you just completely overlook the historic OVERHAUL of the health care system. For three decades, progressive presidents have desperately tried to reform health care, and failed each time. It was a gigantic investment and took time and tremendous effort, but it is literally one of the most important pieces of legislation of the 21st century and it was done under Obama's presidency.

You're entitled to your opinion, but get your facts straight, man.

The measures that you mention, are Arizona state laws, not federal laws backed by the GOP. If someone here needs to get their facts straight is you. You and all of us should send a thank you letter to the Gov. Of AZ. She gave Immigration the shot in the arm it needed. No one was talking about Immigration until AZ passed SB 1070. I have to say, for someone who is telling me to get my facts straight, you aren't very good at political analysis. You should quit now.

Is that what you tell yourself to make yourself feel better?

I don't sugar coat things. It is what it is. I am a realist and I see things for what they are. Immigration reform or no Immigration reform I will be OK where ever I go. I would like to stay but if I can't so be it. I am a grown man, I can deal with what ever comes my way.

I'm a capitalist. I believe in free enterprise. I don't see anything historic about any govt run program. You definitely don't follow the numbers and you definitely don't know anything when it comes to taxes. Good luck with that kiddo. I'll leave you with the latest piece by the NY times: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/18/he...2&ref=politics
This is a direct quote from the Obama administration " When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s power to lay and collect taxes.”

You are right, I am entitled to my opinion. I have derived my opinion through life experience, hard work, and college studies. Even if I am here illegally, I have managed to create not one, but two successful businesses, and I know personally how dangerous taxes and bureaucracy can be. Unfortunately, taxes and bureaucracy are the modus operandi of what you call "progressives" which is a group of people I hope to never be a part of.

I don't trust the govt to run my health care properly. The govt doesn't have a good track record with any of the programs they currently run. Name me one successful govt program? I promise you I'll find you 100 faults as fast as you can finish typing.

According to the Wall Street Journal..have you heard of them? your so called "progressives" have no clue about economics: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...pinion_LEADTop

I found this posted on a blog, and it fits perfect as a response to your health care reform mainstream media infused speech

The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.

Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every “government service” you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

I love a political debate, but next time let me know what you really think, not what you've learned watching CNN. Think for yourself.

oh Diplok your soo dirty with those quotes... lol

i must say one thing though... my brother also has hes own business, he does hire illegals, even though he pays them good; like $11/hr cash... it seems that he has no choice though, people only want cheaper and cheaper and thus his employers costing him the most; his forced to get workers who don't stay talking on the phone or text throughout the day, he rather get some disciplined workers who do their job and don't complain too much...

to be fair, he has tried to get Americans, but it seemed very hard for him to make a profit... they constantly wanted raises and vacation time. i don't know; it just seems to me that people are spoiled in this country, they want things for a bargain; and yet want to be paid allot without even a hs degree. i don't think you can have it both ways. for the immigration problem, i blame this society... the illegals coming over the border are just replying to the demand.

If Dream passes, we would all be talking about their green card fingerprinting experiences at USCIS offices.

If not, more wailing and grumbling.
