I find it hard to believe that The Lounge forum has 48,500 messages and the Taking Action only has 5,400. This isn't a lounge and indeed action speaks louder than words. So I suggest we all do something. After all, we're all in the same boat and only we know how we feel. So... I have a proposition I clicked on "the others," those likely to vote "nay" on the bill and found their website and then found their office address. I'd like to believe others on here have tried to contact these senators or perhaps sent them a letter or an email to pursade them to vote in favor of the bill. I don't know, if you have then God bless you. For those of us who haven't I suggest we do. The forever stamp only costs 42cents and writing a letter is well, free really so print it out as many times as forever stamps you plan on buying and send it to as many senators as you can. There are currently 106 who oppose and 218 who are undecided. If you wanted to send a letter to all 218 senators it would cost $91.46 plus the copies which are like 10 cents each and the envelopes get them at the dollar store.lol Thats not much considering the benefits. If you cant send one to all then just send as many as you can. Starting tomorrow I will start writing letters. If you need a sample letter in case you don't know what to write I'll give you one. Let me know. Please don't disregard my message or my intention. I will try as I hope and pray the rest of you do too. I believe in miracles but I'm also a realist. If nobody does anything nothing will get done. So at least we can say we tried.

August 11, 2010

Congressman Kay Bailey Hutchison
961 Federal Building
300 East 8th Street
Austin, Texas 78701

Dear Congressman Kay,

My name is .........
I am writing to ask for your support of the DREAM act.
I believe the dream act represents a worthwhile Endeavour in that it provides a rational, solution to a big problem within our immigration system. In providing a resolution for those that find them selves without status thru no fault of their own.

The DREAM act is a sensible peace of legislation that gives;

Dreamers the chance to repay The United States of America for all that it has provided (social services, hospitalizations, busing, infrastructure, school lunches, economic standing, schooling, and the opportunity to do better, among others) with higher taxes once they graduate and/or with military service.

The ignorant may argue that the DREAM act is unjust by stating;

-1 That dreamers will take college slots from real Americans
-2 That dreamers should not get instate tuition because they are internationals
-3 That dreamers have broken the law and should not be rewarded

Conversely I feel that:

-1 If one peaks (English), possess good moral character, is willing to work for their dream, have the grades, are willing to earn their place in this county, earned their spot at university, or are willing to risk their life for this county. Then they represent everything that is American.

-2 If they or their parents pay School, City, State, Sales, and Federal taxes, and have lived in the state since they were children, why should they not get instate tuition. The IRS does not care about ones status, as long as one is paying taxes on their earnings here in the states.

-3 The son should not be held liable for the sins of the father. Especially since there is no line for these children to stand in; why could we not build one? Why are we passing up on these brains, taxes, future builders?

I believe the DREAM act is a reasonable form of legislation; however it won’t be passed unless it garners your support. So I implore you to see the DREAM act for what it is, and thus place your full support behind it.

Thank you for your time.
