I think our next meeting should be Friday the 13th or Saturday the 14th. This time, I exhort everyone to come. I am thankful for those of you that came, and It was truly amazing to get to know everyone, we need everyone to come, not just a few.

Next time, besides getting to know each other and sharing our stories, we should discuss a bit further what we can do to help our cause. I believe that if we all pool our time, effort and resources we can get something done. There is tremendous power in numbers, that is why I am begging all those that couldn't make it to come out next time.

I hope to hear everyone's suggestions on meeting times and places. Again, I exhort all of you to come. If we don't stand up for ourselves than who will. We had a great first meeting, and from what I can tell about the people I met, they are all hard working and resilient. With that being said, we need more. We have to get our voice out there, we have to gather as many DREAMERS in our area as possible. If we all think and act as one, I am 100% sure we can get things done.

I am done seating around searching the web for a glimmer of hope. I didn't chose to be in this predicament, but I am. I refuse to believe that my future is in the hands of some politician. In order to make the DREAM act happen, some of us or rather all of us are going to have to take a stance. Do you want to be part of those who did something? or would you rather watch from the sidelines?

There is none. You must've missed the exact same post on our Los Angeles thread by another guy.

I'm actually happy for you guys who made it work out, out there.

And I do believe you could be onto something. If New York could gather a large group and draw up some kind of plan for a peaceful, attention-drawing event and could sync up with Los Angeles, Chicago, Albuquerque, Atlanta etc., putting forth the same event as if harmonized, I'm sure it'd grab alot of attention. It seems and feels like a long shot though...

Guys, I am glad to see you all are taking a proactive approach to our problem.

I would highly recommend that your group attends the YLC meetings (you can keep an eye on our National Calendar and plan to attend the next one). Or you can visit their website at www.nysylc.org. If you go to their page your will see they have a fun event on the 14th which your group could attend . Networking with other activists here is key. Perhaps you can meet the leaders there and talk about the group you are forming and ask for advice.

Those are my two cents. I am more than glad to give you guys other ideas of how to get things started.
