hey i have a ? i plan to marry a PR right but i was told by someone that the uscis offers free legal aid like for filing papers and stuff like that is this true has any1 ever tried this option and my next question is has any1 here that married a pr and covered under the 245 i ever filed there paper by themselves without using a lawyer, and what where your results??

pay up and go to a lawyer. any little mistake in filling out those forms can greatly decrease your chances.

Uh NO. USCIS definitely does not offer free legal aid or advice. The only contact I had with USCIS was through mail or by phone. The only thing they ever helped me with is to give me the status of my case. That was it. Actually, I've heard that the operators at the USCIS number don't know much about immigration processes. Many people have been mislead by something an USCIS operator has told them over the phone.

My husband and I started the process on our own but ended up hiring a lawyer at the end to prepare our waiver (I had to go through the waiver process in Ciudad Juarez). It's up to you what you want to do. The only reason we hired a lawyer was because my Dad talked me into it and offered to help me pay for some of the fees. Looking back on it now, I wish we would have done it on our own since my case was simple and I did A LOT of research/multiple consultations with different lawyers. We would have saved a lot of money. But oh, well.

If you don't want to do the research, you should probably hire a lawyer. Even if you decided to do it on your own, make sure you do a couple of consultations just to make sure.

No such thing as USCIS offering advice,they give out immigration benefits but are certainly not helpful and can sometimes work against you concerning your case IF you don't have the information accurate on your part.If marriage is bona fide ,under 245i you would have to use the I-485A[adjustment of status] form and pay the $1000 fee associated with using grandfathering benefits.

No one would be able to say with certainty because the visa bulletin has never had such good F2A wait times.Usually it was at ~ 4 1/2 years but now it is just 7 months before a visa number becomes available.At the very least,you won't have to do any removal of conditions come the adjustment interview time period.I see no issue if you have a pending application for residency under 245i based on a bona fide marriage.

oh ok thanks its just with this recession shit i havent work study in like 3 yrs lol andthat funds are low to hire a lawyer / my parents arent helping me they know the situation but they grimey like fuck. but yea many people i know that have filled out the forms for their children and other people have messed up their kids chances but thanks for the info.
