I've been reading about how people oppose it because they view it as an incentive to come here illegally so, just wanted to know. Oh and Sept. 14 is National call-in day for the DA, read that somewhere, don't remember where though. Thanks.
I think it only applies for those already here. Lets say dream passes tomorrow and you came in the following year then it would not apply to you. Even then, some of us who are already here don't even qualify because you have had to be here before a certain age and been here consistently for 5 years.

So, I spoke to my lawyer about two months ago and he stated that I should wait because the law is changing. He is probably the oldest immigration lawyer I know, and has helped my family tremendously but I still have my doubts. Basically, I believe him and most people on here that the possibility of DREAM Act passing is legit. Nothing comes easy in life, and it's much worse for our situation. Lawyers are there for legal counseling and not facts maker. So I guess if my lawyer said that jumping off a cliff would solve all my problem do I believe him and do it? You take his opinion and put it on top of every other opinions you hear everyday.
Just because a lawyer said that it is never going to pass doesn't make it official or a fact! Seriously, a lot of people said Obama can't win the election and he did! I was happy too!
Tell me how long did the healthcare reform take until it was passed? With all the publicity that the DA is getting, I'm confident that it will pass soon.

Thank you Mona for answering my question. The question doesn't apply to me, I've been here for 19years. Just needed clarification because really, people don't support it thinking it supports illegal entry into the country. Now I know it doesn't.

My situation is complicated and then I talked to him about the Dream Act and what he said pretty much let me down.
He said "The Dream act is just a political game" meaning that its a promise that most politicians make to gain votes and to be in good terms with the Hispanic public.
He said "why hasn't the passed the Dream Act? It's been almost 10 years since it was first introduced and look what has happen? NOTHING!!!" He told me Congress is not going to do anything about it and if it ever passes it would be a miracle then he knocked on wood.

He took the law book and placed it in-front of me trying to see if there was anything that could help my situation. He told me how it is, Reality hurts!
Since everyone seems a little depressed about this, i figured I would post what I heard from my lawyer. I don't know how much you will believe me, since mostly i am just a lurker. Anyways, I talked to her about two months ago and she usually handles big important cases. Luckily I got the consultation fee waived. What she mentioned is that she feels very confident that something will happen before February. Not complete immigration reform, but something smaller such as another 245i or the dream act. I was specific in telling her to be honest, since I was considering leaving the country already, but she urged me to stay until the first months of next year. Her explanation on why she believed this was based on the fact that the obama administration will try to maintain hispanics happy with a down payment and also leave some kind of legacy in terms of immigration. I know it's hard to believe and I don't know if she will be right or not, but she was very confident, smart, direct and extremely nice for a lawyer. She mentioned she had been in our situation at some point and that is why she went into immigration law. Anyways, that is my experience on the subject. Back to lurking. It just is a contrast to what the original poster experienced.
