Everytime i read the dreamers stories i feel like i have been wasting my time and i just been lazy. Im 24 years old and i feel old compared to the majority of the dreamers here. I graduated from high school with a 3 point something gpa, I went to college for one semester after that i quit college, and started working full time. My plan was to save money for college and go back as a full time student, but as i started making good money i kept postponing my plans. In a blink of an eye 5 years went by and i feel as i am gonna be stuck with a minimum wage job for the rest of my life. I work in a restaraunt dont get me wrong i love working there but i dont want to do this the rest of my life. I went back to school this semester im happy to be in school again, but i feel sad that i am the oldest guy in every class i have. i dont know if i can still make something out of myself, or is it too late for me? Most of the stories i read are of outstandings students with perfect gpas and having jobs on the side. I wish everybody the best i hope all your dreams come true. One thing i do recommend and i know it helps its meditation without at it i dont know where i would be.

Hey I'm 27 years old and I still want to go to college. I finished my B.A. degree in Dec 2008. However, I will still be looking forward to a masters or maybe even law school when the Dream Act passes. I don't care what anyone says, everyone's life is different and has different variables that we have to deal with.

I think someone asked in a previous post: "What is your dream?" or something like that. My dream is to help those that come after me. Ideally I would want to make sure that my situation doesn't repeat itself in other people's lives. And I believe if you have a dream and you want to follow it, you'll be able to pursue it no matter what obstacles are in your way. Even if an obstacle is being somewhat older than the rest of your peers. Psh! For me that's a minor obstacle to overcome!

Hi there:
I am 32 and I was 26 when I finish my B.S. The reason why it takes this long is because is hard!!! Remember only 33% of the population go to college, and that is people with everything in their favor. You should be commented for going back to college, most people just don't. And, NO, you are not old. I know people who graduated college in their 30's.

hey dude I'm pretty much in the same situation as you are.. 23 and going to college after 5 year break. I needed to grow up in that time span and at that point of my life, I was pretty much a hopeless sack of sh*t.

Keep your head up, we can all get through this together.

It's never too late to become what you might have been. Sometimes all it takes is the smallest push from someone who doesn't realize how much of a difference it makes.

Hello! I'm 23 and I know what you are saying. I read about these people on this board and in real life being 16, 18, 21 doing so much and on my bad days go ugh! They have so much time. But I try not to think about it,or at least that way. Don't worry about being older. We all have different walks of life and different stories. And because of your walk of life and story (being undocumented) , you were unable to live the life you would have otherwise. That is what I tell myself everyday.

As I'm sitting here typing this to you, my whole family is gone out of the house because my 15 year old sister is getting her Drivers permit. I can't drive (and you know why). But what can I do about something that is out of my power? Of course it hurts asking people for rides when I am way past the age where I should be able to.

Watching as people who I graduated high school with and went to college with (I had to drop out) finish college and start their careers, and watch others who are younger than me live their lives and surpass me painful, and sometimes I feel so bad I want to cry. Many times I think people look down on me, sometimes people that I'm close to too, which hurts. But its not because I'm lazy, but its not that easy when you are undocumented. Its because my life story won't allow me to do what I want. I tell myself everyday that its okay, and that one day I will be able to accomplish my goals, and finally breath, even if its not in the timeline I wanted. The only thing I can do is keep dreaming, and not let my dreams go. My dreams are what keeps me going.

Awww don't feel bad, this semester I didn't go to school because I moved from houston to dallas and they are trying to charge me xtremely high prices for school, so I have to wait 6 months living in dallas and then they would be able to charge me regular prices.
Since I wasn't born here I don't get fanancial aid help but its never too late to go to school. By the way I'm 21.

I agree with the rest of the posts. It is never too late to go school. I am 32 and I'm graduating this semester with a BS in Computer Science, but also starting next semester an MS in Forensic Computing. For my BS I have always been part time and working full time in restaurants, and any other job that will pay for my tuition, rent and food. The last 2 years I have been lucky enough to work for a technology company as part of their engineering team, they know I'm undocumented. Keep focus, don't get distracted by little things like age, your sanity is what matters and working really hard for something you really want can help in keeping that sanity. Peace.
