I'm just amused at the number of times you dimwits refer to yourselves as "illegal"

I also can't believe it's not butter.

I will be as honest and cold as I can be and wished someone would have told me this 6 years ago.

If by any reason you become out of status I suggest that with out hesitation look for an alternative country I.E. Canada, U.K., Australia, etc. and leave the US.

Once you are out of status 1000 doors will close. If you seek employment with out proper documentation people will want to take advantage of you, cheat you out of payment or treat you poorly. Not to mention everything else that is mention on these forums from seeking a drivers license to going to college. In additional to all the emotional stress that brings someone in this status.

Currently the US doesn't have an immigration policy to retain needed future or existent skilled workers. So if the US doesn't want you why would you want the US? There are many countries that will ease immigration to their country if you hold a degree or plan on getting one in their country.

If this year the DREAM act doesn't pass I have wasted 6 years of my life I will never get back. If by the end of 2010 no immigration change has happened I will leave the US.

Hope this helps in your decision, some times looking on some ones else mirror helps getting a better picture.

i'm just wondering how you manage to get h1-b status while being illegal (angeleno, there are less letters to type than undocumented; not great cognitive behavior, but oh well). I'm guessing you somehow managed to adjust to international student? Plz pm me the procedure, (cuz I'm about to do the same if this shit don't fly).

I was never illegal to date.

Dream Act is making me seriously consider becoming illegal, assuming I am convinced my 4-year departure from the US prior to 2005 doesn't disqualify me from Dream Act.

On the day Dream Act passes, you people will be partying all night while I cry in my bedroom worrying about my future in the middle of this terrible economy, and all the six figure jobs that I cannot apply to because of my immigration status.

Relax. Why don't you go talk to a lawyer.

Plus, even though you're still waiting on your petition so you can get residency.. Aren't you able to work legally and do whatever you want in the meantime?

I did a post about a year ago of how being legal was worst than being illegal in case Dream Act passes.
Hopefully I will still qualified since I came here illegally and TPS doesn't provide a pathway to citizenship or at least a green card.

EXACTLY! Just missing your friends an family is not a good reason to stay in the US. But if you mention this the lock happy moderators will lock the thread for "trolling".

TPS stands for Temporary Protective Status, so while I'm under this, they can't deport my ass back to Honduras. I have seen some Dreamers who are at high level Universities through out the United States though, that have TPS.
