I've been stalking the forums for a while and I thought it's about time that I posted something that is relevant to the DREAM Act.

We're all most likely aware that politics can get extremely shaky during an "election year" It's the time of year when these goons masquerade on television, radio and the intertron, dangling progress and justice on a stick.

But in a world where nothing is truly black or white, we must choose the better of two evils... It's a bit disheartening that the DREAM Act could be shot down next week, but we can't give up, keep making those calls and make your voice heard. There is a way.

TO THOSE STALKING THE FORUMS:

JOIN IN THE STRUGGLE!
WHEN THEY TELL YOU:
YOU CAN'T,
YOU SHOULDN'T,
YOU WONT!

TELL EM THIS: There is a way.

http://socialistworker.org/2010/09/1...-the-dream-act

"But in a cynical maneuver, Reid plans to make the proposal part of the Senate's $670 billion defense appropriations bill to fund the U.S. war machine. This would force anyone who wants to support the DREAM Act to also support funding for the Pentagon and its wars and occupations around the world"

"SocialistWorker.org supports, with criticisms, the DREAM Act--but not as part of legislation funding the U.S. war machine. We believe immigrant rights activists and all supporters of justice should oppose the defense appropriations bill--and Reid's insulting attempt to manipulate the immigrant rights movement into supporting war. We should demand that the DREAM Act be considered and passed separately"

"In 2008, Barack Obama promised that he would put immigration reform high on his agenda when he became president. Instead, any measures that would help the undocumented and broaden rights for all immigrants have been put on hold--while the White House has actually stepped up the federal government's enforcement apparatus"

The proposal for limited legalization--and the enthusiasm of activists who want to see the measure passed--is being used to advance a strategy timed for the November elections. The Democrats want to force Republicans into blocking or voting against the defense appropriations bill--or accepting the DREAM Act so they aren't seen as neglecting "national security."

But this means tying the fate of a genuine, if limited, reform to money for war and occupation. "

Peace out, I'm all for the DREAM Act of course, since CIR is never going to happen. Well, perhaps in 2050 when the Hispanic population will increase by 60%.

http://www.census.gov/population/www...e/natproj.html

"According to the middle series, the Hispanic-origin population would be the largest growing group. By 2000, the Hispanic-origin population may increase to 31 million, double its 1990 size by 2015, and quadruple its 1990 size by the middle of the next century. In fact, the Hispanic-origin population would contribute 32 percent of the Nation's population growth from 1990 to 2000, 39 percent from 2000 to 2010, 45 percent from 2010 to 2030, and 60 percent from 2030 to 2050."

Also, try using e fax com to send free faxes in case you don't have access to a fax machine.

Wow, reading this article makes me realize that our congressmen are potentially USING us to benefit in November's elections...I just hope that I'm wrong about Reid's intentions..I guess the ball is in our court now and we should just increase the momentum before Tuesday. YES WE CAN!

You guys need to STOP saying they're using us to their advantage. Its obvious that they're but if they weren't who would be advocating for us? Who? I'm sure its not GOP or the Teabaggers.

It's not "NEWS". I'm not peddling a socialist agenda either. I thought seeing another point of view rather than democratic and republican was a good idea. I also put the poll there to get an idea if the military factor is such a big deal to the dreamact.info community. It seems we're pretty much clear on what we want and the slight "sacrifices" or "trade offs" that might be required, and that's great! To be really honest though, seeing that gtfo socialist comment had me thinking.... something.

peace.
