Alex makes no sense.

For anyone out there whos thinking of apply to study in other country..Do not think from your point of view. Think from the consulates. Most countries allow you to stay for some time after you graduate so you can get a job. So if you apply from here, even with your story its going to sound like you never want to go back to your country of origin because your saying how you dont know it etc. Which most likely will increase your chances of rejection.

Actually...Babysadreamer has a valid point. One of the questions my interviewer asked me was, "Why didn't you leave the country earlier? Why did you stay in the US while knowing that you no longer have legal status?"

I just answered that I was scared to return without a job, and that I was still trying to make arrangements for my return. But still...that was a point against my application. I could've told my sob story, but I didn't. I know that most of you guys don't want to return to your countries of origin because you're not familiar with those countries. I, on the other hand, am too familiar with my country of origin and the many, many traumas I experienced here. Either way, life goes on. You make do with the shit hand you're dealt, whether you're in the US or in a shithole country. I mean, what the fuck are we supposed to do, curl up in a ball and cry?

I'm reapplying for visas to the US and to Canada in three years once I have re-established myself here and once I get my MS. I have the 10-year-ban to the US, but I personally know of several people who were banned permanently, but were re-admitted within two years since they were highly-skilled professionals in fields that greatly benefit the US.

ETA: Yes, sometimes I do regret leaving the US, especially now that the DREAM Act seems so close. I also miss my family terribly, even though we usually didn't get along and the pressure of being undocumented was starting to tear us apart. I knew I had to leave, though, because I literally was going crazy. Losing my status, leaving the US, and having my visa application rejected are just some of the many disappointments and traumas that I've experienced in my life. They're practically nothing at this point.

And before you tell me to stop whining and pitying myself, well then, go sodomize yourself with a traffic cone. I think I'm entitled to a bit of whining and self-pity.

If you lie, you are gonna be banned.

I just posted the point of view of a consulate.

Canadians need immigrants at this moment, they want you to stay (legally). Once you are in Canada they will make it easy for you to stay.( brother is there now getting his residency )

By the way, Alex, what field are you in? That's one of the factors they look at, too, but I'm sure you already know that.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

My aunt just called me and said she received my passport with a visa stamp today!

NOTE: I wanted this thread to assist others if anyone ever considered the idea of applying to a Canadian school... never intended to hurt anyone. Also, I dont think its appropriate to offend others because we are just sharing information based on our experiences... and as we can see now... our experiences differ... but it doesnt mean that Im right and you are wrong... or that this is the only way to do it.

I will answer questions/post more details over the weekend...
