SAN DIEGO – A federal judge issued a worldwide injunction Tuesday immediately stopping enforcement of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, suspending the 17-year-old ban on openly gay U.S. troops.
U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips' landmark ruling also ordered the government to suspend and discontinue all pending discharge proceedings and investigations under the policy.

It's amazing how much power one person can have.

So I guess this should not have been attached to the defense bill and we may have gotten a little more support with just DREAM.

It's because of the on-going media coverage about young LGBT people who are commiting suicide. So, now people want to lighten things up and repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

It has nothing to do with DREAM.

Well actually...They tried to have DADT as an Amendment to the Defense Bill, alike the DREAM Act. Some Senators voted against begining debate on the Defense Authorization because of DADT. Now that its not an issue, if they decide to pass the DREAM as an amendment after the elections. Whatever the case we will have to see what happens.

The implication of this ruling is that now DADT doesn't have to be attached to the Defense Bill anymore. Dream Act will get all the attention

WHAAA TAAAA FUUUUUDGE??? youre telling me a federal judge has the power to pull something like that? Then why the hell has anyone not done anything about that bs law in Arizona??????????????????

I mean if the gov. really cared they should have pulled that stunt immidiately after the law went into effect and then not done shit about it once the 60 days are over.

A federal district judge already issued an injunction against several provisions of SB 1070. As with any injunction, this is just the first step. There are likely to be appeals.
