As DREAMies, we are being held back by lack of acculturation on the part of a lot of latino groups where the place they come from and the culture they come from is expected to assimilate to them, instead of the other way around. I disagree with the bigotry expressed in the OP, but that a lot of people are still not assimilating is a roadblock for those of us who do want to assimilate or already have (like DREAMies).

uh oh, i sense a group divide again, with lots of mud and stuff being thrown around. Last time this happened, while it was fun to see all the bickering exchanged, a bunch of people found themselves unexpectedly banned pending an investigation and I have not seen some of them return since then.

lol

It takes time for Latinos (especially Mexican) to assimilate because our customs are here in the US. Eventually we assimilate but more late than other cultures it take 2 generations for us to be fully integrated.

It benefits this country for us to maintain at least part of our culture because it encourages international trade.

We generate specific demand for foreign goods and we introduce our countries to US customs when we visit encouraging the demand for US goods as well. At least I do not know of many people that visit their family back home that do not take bags full of gifts.
