Hello Everyone,

Just a little introduction of myself:

I have been visiting this website/forum for quite a while now and have finally decided to introduce myself, say hello, and start posting. Its nice to have a place where you can relate with other people that are going through the same things that you are going through...

Anyways, I came to New York when I was 9. I remember being told by my parents that we were going for a vacation and was going to go to Disney lol. I was so excited haha...I also remember worrying on the plane that I had a group presentation with my classmates the next day, and I had the materials that we were presenting lol. So I felt really bad on the plane that I had left them and that they would probably get a bad grade lol. But hey, the thought of going to Disney was like woahhhh *excitement* lol.

My parents told me about our situation before I entered high school, but it didn't truly hit me until I was on my senior year. It has been on the back of my mind, but I just figured and hoped that things would get resolved eventually anyway.

And so a glimmer of hope came to me when my parents convinced me to go into nursing. They told me that if I become a nurse, I will have the chance to be petitioned through an employer. And so I started college to pursue the career of nursing. The Nursing Program starts during your Junior year, so I was going hardcore studying for the pre-nursing entrance exam and boosting my GPA lol. And so the end of sophomore year came and I was blessed with an email congratulating me that I have made it! ...got it at midnight so I woke up my parents with all this joy lol.

And so comes nursing school. During the beginning of nursing school, our director told us that "some" people would have trouble going into clinical due to documentation problems. My heart sank to the floor when I heard that. Just wow...papers...*sigh*. I remember thinking if I was going to even graduate. I was devastated...I felt for all the people who I knew were in the program that had the same situation. What is going to happen to us?

Thank God, our school managed to fix the problem. They found us more clinical sites to go to and so we all got the chance to finish nursing school. Our director also announced that beginning next year, all prospective nursing students will need to show proof of documentation...I felt so lucky and at the same time heartbroken for next year's students who have the grades but are in the same situation...I personally knew friends who would be devastated by this news.......

Fast forward to today: So here I am today...graduated class of 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, passed the NCLEX, and have my RN license. Job as a nurse? Nope...

But honestly this whole journey...where I am now...where we are now...all this suffering...I really do think will have its purpose. We would definitely not be the person that we are today if it wasn't for this "situation". Its probably been said before, but I really do think its true. We have learned to view life in a totally different way. We have hopefully learned to cherish it even more and not take things for granted.

Don't get me wrong...it does suck, but (I know this is going to sound corny) at least you are here living right now...blessed with a computer/internet access inside a (hopefully warm) shelter reading this post with your own eyes, vision intact. lol you get the point.

PS: I still have not been to Disney LOL...

If it makes you feel better, Disney is just way overpriced and not that much fun, I would recommend six flags more, unless you intentions are to meet all the Disney characters and take pictures with them and the colorful ambiance.

I think my parents used the same story, came to Florida on vacation to visit Disney World, went years later. I told all my friends back home that I would be back in a couple weeks, wonder what they thought when I never returned and where they are now...

I want to go to Disney too! I want to squeeze Mickey Mouse and give him a big hug.

Welcome to DAP, and I am so happy for you in getting that nursing degree. Someday....soon hopefully....you will be able to put that in good use.

Oh...and Disney will always be there when you're ready.
