This is kind of long but I would appreciate some input. My uncle had sponsored my family and I about 9 years ago(for a green card) and the visa number became current about two months ago. I found out that I was still eligible for a green card despite having aged out because I was under 245-i and CSPA . After filing all the necessary paperwork, I received a receipt from USCIS yesterday stating that the next thing to follow would be biometrics (fingerprinting) and according to my lawyer once that's done a work permit will follow by mid or late November. I am a premed student with almost a year worth of volunteer experience at a hospital and an occasional soup kitchen volunteer. I have worked for a well known pizza franchise as a manager since 2005. Now I have started to look for jobs already, specifically for research assistants, and I am not sure if I should put down my work (on résumé). In other words, should I take the approach that I wasn't allowed to work therefore I don't have much experience in the field (aside from volunteering) or do I keep everything as is and apply with the "credentials" I've got? Thank you for taking the time to read.

Hey! My dad's priority date is April 30, 2001 and I'm also covered by CSPA and 245i. How old are you? We just sent in our paperwork a week ago (pretty late) so I'm still waiting to hear from them... but knowing that you've gotten this far and that your application is progressing makes me feel a lot better! How long did it take for you to get your biometrics appointment??

About your question: put down all your experience! How will they know you worked without papers? Experience is experience, and having a job as manager since 2005 shows great worth ethic, even if it's unrelated to medicine.

Apply with the credentials you've got, if anything they will just call your boss at the pizza place to ask about you not about your status or what personal information you submitted to them.

We sent in our paperwork on September 28 and got the receipt on October 12th. So you should be hearing from them next week, the biometric appointment will probably come in 1-2 weeks after that(I haven't gotten it yet, just a receipt that I filed the application). I am 24 years old btw, how about you?

Thanks for both your replies. The only reason I asked this is because normally premed students have a lot of volunteer and research work under their belt and since I didn't do/couldn't do any of that it looks bad. I thought that this would make future employers think that I was lazy or just not motivated enough. That's why I thought that if I left out the fact that I have been working for the past five years and just told them that I wasn't allowed to work legally before then they'd look past that. But I think I'll just put down everything, work is work even if that kind of job isn't looked at as a "real" job.

Hi!
We know someone else who's protected by 245i and she received her biometrics appointment exactly one month after mailing her paperwork. I'm getting anxious because it's been a week since they received it (according to the tracking number) but they still haven't taken our money ...... It's the first time ever that I want someone to take my money! Hahaha. I'm 21 right now. Do you have a lawyer? I'm confused about how our paperwork is processed. Is it as a unit? Aka do we get our permit and biometrics at the same time as our parent? Do we go to the same interview? Or do we have separate interviews?

This is so nerve wracking for me... but again, seeing someone else benefiting from CSPA makes me feel tons better.

Good luck with your pre-med and med endeavors. I was a premed once and I know too well the kind of expectations and lifestyles that are involved

I got the letter for my biometrics appointment on October 15th, 3 days after I received my receipt letter. I am now scheduled to go for fingerprinting along with the rest of my family on the 28th of October. After that we'll get our work permits, approx. two weeks. I have heard that we will have to go to the interview together as well. And yes the paperwork goes in together as a unit, that's how we did ours anyway. My approach from the beginning has been to not get too excited until I have the work permit in my hands.
It's funny you mention the money thing. I had my mom freaking out and checking on our account everyday to see if it had been taken out. We have been pretty lucky in our case, the money was taken out a week after we submitted our applications. Maybe it depends on where you live( i live in queens/longisland). Good luck and don't be too nervous it will all work out

Hi! thanks for responding and good luck to you and your fam. I sent my paperwork with my dad, but we have different MSC numbers, does it still mean it's going together? And aren't our work permits processed separately from one another? Will your dad's petitioner go with you guys to the interview?

I'm trying not to have high expectations, lol.

I looked at our appointment letter and yeah we do have separate numbers. Honestly I am not too sure how the whole process works....How about this? As I go through the process myself I'll keep you posted on what's going on. Sound good?

Yes! Thanks! Did you each get your own appointment letter btw or did you get separate ones? Feel free to PM me at any point. I just received the e-mail notifications that they received our paperwork and our checks were cashed

Oh that's great! Congrats! We each got our own appointment letter but we all have to go on the same day, half of us have it at the same time and the other half has it an hour later. I'll keep in touch through PM.
