Hey guys, I was thinking about making a DREAM Club at the community college I attend. Would this be a good idea or a bad idea? I was thinking of stuff we could do but I could only come up with calling senators. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what else we could do as a group/club?

Thank you!

Inform the public on the Dream Act, or maybe fund raise for scholarships.

Go for it!
It will also serve as a support group for fellow Dreamers.

I actually joined 2 weeks ago at my CC. It's pretty cool :] Well Ive only been to two meetings, but so far here are some of the things they organize/ do:

- Scholarship info
- fundraisers. We had one at panda where 20% of all the purchases went toward our club. We didn't make that much money, but thats prob because panda isn't that expensive. we were thinking of having our next one at a pricier popular pizza place.
-We also had a discussion of saving everything of importance in a portfolio. any awards, scholarships, and letters of recommendation. all that good stuff. just in case, it doesn't hurt
- of course awareness
- being active in our community and getting proof of it (pictures)
- Also they have this community gathering thing..not to sure what they call it, it was briefly mentioned... not just for DA people, but for any undocumented person. they just share each others stories/ experiences and support each other. It's like once a week and they have a free lawyer present.

I'm sure they have more good ideas, but i haven't been around that long. Our meetings are pretty chill mostly pot luck thingys with junk food :] haha. It's def pretty nice.. for support :] Also there are people in it that aren't undocumented

I say you do it :]

you guys could also support rallies and anything thats being organized by bigger groups. Like lets say the next time theres a big rally, your club could be the center for information and advertising in your school. You can do a lot man just keep thinking and youll come up with a bunch of ideas.

You guys have some guts. I wish I could openly say I'm undocumented :'( If I joined a club like this I wouldn't feel so alone...

I wanted to start something like this in NM, but not a lot of people replied to my post a while ago, so I guess there isn't many out of state Dreamers here in ABQ, and the rest of the Dreamers are hs graduates who get in-state tuition and get pretty much full ride scholarships, so they don't have the urge of it. Many of them didn't even know about the DA because they have it easier than some of us. But I would mainly try to form a club so we wouldn't feel so "alone/left out", scholarship funds, and get the support from local politicians, and spread the word about the DA. Go for it, man!
