I raked up an $18,000 hospital bill that is now in collection. There's absolutely no way I can pay it. Does anyone here know if that could count against me qualifying for the dream act, as bad 'moral character' ?
No I do not think so, but I am not a lawyer. However, you can call collection and tell them that you cannot pay it, and arrange small payments every month of $5 or $20. At least, they will stop changing you interest and if you have a SS, your credit report will show that the matter is resolving. A good friend of mine, my mom and my uncle did it...good luck!!!
