Finish my degree, go back to Mex to get some work experience and eventually find a job overseas. If there's something I've learned from this whole situation is that I can make a home out of any place I am. I am a fucking nomad.

uggh... i just don't know, my parents want to look for a USC chick for me to marry, but I have so far been successful to postpone that for several years already, really would not like to take that path. Guess I will complete college, take as much time as possible to do so while trying not to make the cost too high and if anything maybe try to get some more education in me either in the form of a second degree or getting a more advanced degree category, hopefully the DA will pass eventually, but what's worrying me is the lack of hands on experience I will have coming out of college.

The other path would be me leaving the US, going to my home country and staying there 10 years until my parents are able to petition me and then come back, but 10 years, that is a very long portion of my life, and my country, well.... even though I have colombian citizenship I don't think colombians will believe me, barely speak the language fluidly enough, can't write in spanish well, and just don't know how I will get around a country that has scared my parents when they were able to visit after not having gone for about 13 years.

I feel like we get a new "what will you do...." thread started every three days or so...but I guess I'll once again add my 2 cents:

I've been done with college for a couple of years now so if the Dream act doesn't pass I'm definitely out of here. I'm currently in the process of applying to medical school in my home country so I will return to hopefully begin medical school in 2011. Like the top two posters, my family will be able to petition for me in a couple of years, so I'll most likely return to the USA after my 10 year ban to practice medicine. By then I will be done with all of my training, so right now I'm optimistic things will work out fine.

I gave up the idea a long time ago that I would ever find a guy who would fall madly in love with me and save me from this doomed state. For me, being undocumented creates a psyche that makes it virtually impossible for me to become emotionally attached to someone. If I were to try and force a relationship with a guy, with the hopes that it would eventually lead to marriage, the relationship would probably be extremely toxic and unhealthy. So, marriage to a USC is just highly unlikely. I think education in my home country and an eventual return 10 years later is the only path for me that seems feasible.

What will you do when it does pass? Its not like the bill is going away. Its been there since 2001 and always will be there until it passes.

that's the problem, it has been here since 2001, its become the bill that will hopefully past next year every year, right now I am just hoping we break that pattern very soon...

everything dealing with immigration that we thought we knew from past patterns, well... that has been disrupted by terrorism and the 9/11 attacks, we can't even use that kind of information anymore, everything that happens now is new because the circumstances are just that different.

That is the most depressing thing I've ever heard you say lmao. It's sad to think the DA will be giving and has been giving people hope for years. It should be a do or die kinda thing, not an on going source of false hope.
