Who knows? I'm personally getting tired of this nonsense. I just want to wake up and see in big bold letters "Breaking news - Reid has 60 votes" in the news forum.
I totally understand you, but don't expect these politicians to think that "deeply" about issues such as DA with all these "secret talks with Obama", "Behind the door talks", "knows something we don't" etc etc. If they really really really wanted to pass it for REAL reasons (aside from politics), it would've passed years ago.

I finally get it now !!!!!

The Haitian adoption bill serves as a vehicle to pass dream act. The Haitian adoption bill has passed the house unanimously before; however now Dem leaders want to piggy-back DA with the adoption bill, so DA doesn't take up floor time. It's just a congressional mechanism to pass a bill. Just republicans are making a fuss out of it. Because dem is running out of time now, they can't schedule a time slot for DA, so they have to attach DA to the adoption bill in order to save time.

Also, it's a really smart trick. When Dem votes yes for this, it doesn't mean that Dem is voting for DA by itself. Dems from conservative state could say that they vote for this bill just becuz of the Haitian adoption bill. This is to provide a cover for the conservative Dems who are up for re-election in 2012.

And hey, if all Dem senators could unite, we have 58 votes + 2 Republicans Lugar & Bennett, then we could kill the senatorial filibuster.

That would make sense only if the republicans were really nice people and didnt mind attaching bills to controversial bills and then voting yes on them. Too bad they are not like that. I feel like as soon as the word gets out that this is whats going on, the republicans will vote no or might even filibuster. I'm sure they don't care about Haitian oprhans that bad...

Haitian adoption bill is not controversial. It passed unanimously in the House before the break; however now the House wants to piggy back Dream Act with the Haitian adoption bill; so Dream Act doesn't take up floor time.

House rules do not allow you to attach a whole another bill as an amendment.

Stop fucking and have it stand alone.

I'm obviously speaking about the DA. The DA is controversial, the Haitian bill had unanimous support.

House rule does allow piggy back bills. The healthcare bill, aka "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" was piggied back on the "Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009" in the House of Rep

It's just legislative technicality. No big deal

Eh, I'm just afraid it will fail again because they clumped it to the wrong issue.
