News crossed the wires early this morning with an alarming statement: Republicans aren't making it their top priority to kill the DREAM Act. Conservatives lashed out at moderate Republicans and attacked Democrats for using the lame duck session to push their radical amnesty bill into law. As it turns out, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made the appropriate remark, it was just misinterpreted. The fact is, at the moment, Harry Reid doesn't have the votes to pass the DREAM Act.

McConnell made us all a little nervous. After all, the Democrats do hold a near filibuster-proof majority and also have access to some of the most pathetic moderate Republicans in history, so passage of the DREAM Act seems as easy as flipping on the light switch. As his office funneled questions all day, McConnell is aware of the current vote tally for cloture, which would allow the bill to be voted on without any Republican filibuster, and that's why it's not a concern to him.

The DREAM Act is a serious concern - it's essentially amnesty to illegal aliens with all sorts of loopholes that the Democrats will benefit from through a larger voter base. At a time with unemployment at 9.7%, it's clear that Democrats and the White House are more concerned with their radical, anti-American agenda than the economy and putting Americans back to work.

"Americans don't think we should be raising taxes on anybody, especially in the middle of a recession. But instead of giving Americans what they want, Democratic leaders plan to use the last few days that lawmakers expect to spend in Washington this year focusing on everything except preventing this tax hike, which will cost us even more jobs."

"...Immigration...a repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'...a reorganization of the FDA...more environmental regulations...."

"Democrats put off all these things until after the election, along with the most basic task of funding the government. By focusing on them now, and not on legislation to promote job creation and reduce spending, they're showing where their priorities lie."

The Senate Minority leader hit the nail on the head. One key difference is the language he used: "...promote job creation." Liberals use the language create jobs, but what they consistently forget is that the government doesn't create jobs.

The DREAM Act still makes us conservatives nervous, especially because we know what type of arm twisting this White House will pull to get their way. We also know that there are some liberal Republicans, including John McCain and Lindsay Graham, who are proponents of amnesty. Graham says he won't vote 'no' on cloture; McCain is an unknown. But even if those two clowns vote for amnesty, Harry Reid still has a struggle with members of his own party that are up for a tough re-election in 2012.

All we can say is that we can't put anything past these Democrats, so watch out for the tricks they have under their sleeves.

is there any truth to what he's saying?

^^^^^ per usual politics, we could analyze this further, but don't think we would get much in regards to getting to our magic "60 votes" needed in the senate, rather we would spend energy/time in a hypothetical discussion.

The article is fairly biased. Not sure on the accuracy of the article itself, but I wouldn't take this in as precise information.

Why would you post this, THIS IS NOT A REPUTABLE SITE! This is an opinion article in a website whose motto is "political insight. Inappropriate humor." Seriously? Don't listen to these idiots. We definitely still have a good chance of passing dream, but WE MUST KEEP CALLING
