Let's face it. We don't. Politicians don't just change their minds because a bunch of illegals, who can't vote and who aren't their constituents, called their generic phone line.

It takes political will and a real advocacy on behalf of key leaders in the Senate to make it work. Obama doesn't give a rat's ass, or at least doesn't care enough to seriously tackle the issue. He says stuff like "I want the DA on my desk by the Lame Duck Session." Yeah, like the Republicans are just going to bend over his way. Democrats could have passed this thing through long ago when there were still enough political capital to spend. Besides, Obama did promise he'd tackle immigration in his first year. HE LIED.

As for Reid, he's a little better than Obama, since he actually did half-heartedly bring up the DA for a vote. I say half hearted because he never tried to compromise with the Republicans or reach across the aisle to sincerely make a plea.

We got played people as we always have. With the new Republican led House in charge, there won't be immigration reform for at least 2 years. Even after 2 years, we will need at least 60 Democrats elected AND they be willing to vote DA. That's not gonna happen.

We need to seriously be rational about this and make life plans accordingly.

Oh, and in before DA_USER chimes in with his delusions. Maybe we as a forum can raise support to afford him counseling.

Dont lose hope there is still some hope left if any that it will pass. I hope it does but anyway do you know how long the immigration process is for a USC to petition for his brother(s). Is it true that it takes 10-15 years

I'm just trying to protect these youngsters from disappointment. There's realistic hope and delusion. We are desperate, but we don't have to be delusional.

DA doesn't have the votes. It's not about giving up. It's just math.
