I'll be making a trip to NM to get a new driver's license soon. My current TX driver's license is valid till Dec 2nd (coming Thursday). Do not have any difficulty obtaining the required paperwork except for the 2 proofs of residency.

Opening a local bank account would be easy, but I do not have a mailing address to use. The cheapest place I can get for a one month lease is 525. Someone suggested posting an ad on craigslist to pay for a resident's utilities.

Before I try that, I'd like to check if anyone here would be able to help with the proof of residence if you live in NM, may it be in the form of changing billing information, filling the Affidavit of Residency, adding name to lease or even just letting me use the address so I can get some documents mailed there.

Ideally, any arrangements should be made by this week. I'll be gone next Tuesday till the New Years. Let me know if anyone else needs to get their DL, too. If I can accommodate, you can come along. I'll be driving from Austin.

If I was you, I wouldn't get a license from New Mexico anymore since the new governor plans on revoking all licenses that have been issued to undocumented residents. I know it's next door, but I wouldn't go for the trouble just to have it revoked.

Hmm, that's a bummer. Well, if anyone is able to spare a WA address, it'll work just as well. I won't make the trip down there till I get my documents in the mail. If anyone's on the route from Austin to WA, I'll try to accommodate. I'm driving a sedan, so can only accommodate 4 others at most.

Thank you in advance for any any assistance offered.

PS. Thanks for the heads up, Eli. NM might still work fine in my case, since I'm planning to stay here no longer than Oct 2011.
