I'm pretty sure you need 51 votes to pass the bill.

He filed for cloture, which means they should be voting on it any day now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since I do not see evidence of a votation, I'm assuming that filling for cloture means: Invoking for a votation on cloture at a future date.

Ok, I get it.
I though for a minute that "filed for cloture" meant that cloture was done already.

p.s. Does anybody here think that Dream might not pass? If that's your case, I want you to do this tonight..... Before you go to sleep, lock yourself in a quiet room, close your eyes, put your knees on the floor (I don't care wich religion you follow, or don't follow) ask with all faith to your creator or the force that brought you into this earth, to confor your heart for whatever decision this senators take regarding DREAM. Do not rebel based on your on limited sense of fairness, belive you me there's something above us, above republicans, above democrats, above it all that's rulling this game. Not one leaf can move without it's permission, and not one law will pass without it's consent. Do not forget to be positive and do positive always, and once done that fairness will reach you.

May God be with us...

lol wut
Ask God to send an angel to explain to you how the political process here works.

How many slaves prayed before they were granted freedom? Have you forgotten that even the slave owners were religious? What makes us right?

Stop trying to add religion into the mix. We're committing a crime, and so are our parents. We need solidarity from the citizens, not god. What makes us so right, when there's also a legal American here praying so that it doesn't pass?

Lol
I might ask god to send an angel to convert you instead.
I belive legal Americans pray for a just cause, on their head they are protecting their own country, they don't know better, even if they did there's a lot of Pharisee out there, trust me they will met their fairness. Slavery was a social condition that I could ralate to as being in the poverty class of now days, I understand violance and many other things were involved but they were the lowest class. Did you know many slaves accepted their position in society? Were happy, died happy, had families and all. That's why they were slaves for so long. Society can change at anytime and the way we did things in the past is not associated to us been good or bad, but being ignorant. I sujest you do a little research on religion so you don't stay ignorant as well.

NO. You need 60 votes in the senate. If it was 51 votes, the DA would have passed in 2007.

You need 60 to start and stop the debate, you need 51 to actually pass the bill.

To be honest, I don't really know how the senate works. I just meant we need 60 votes to prevent filibuster. I mean, we had more than 50 yes votes in 2007 and were only a few votes short of 60. So I think 60 is the magic number.
