When I tell people I've never worked, especially when I tell other undocumented kids, they look at me like I'm spoiled. I'm really not, I live with my parents and I help plenty around the house, just not financially. And trust me, I feel pretty guilty about it, since my parents end up having to pay for my textbooks and college fees. I've seen plenty of threads here where kids ask how to find a job, but that's not what I want, I just need to know if there's anyone else out there like me, who has never had a job before.

I have never had an actual job either. My parents clean houses for a living and I help them out, I also help around the house. I, like yourself, feel guilty that I still live at home, I'm 24, and don't bring in any additional income. It's a real tough situation, that's why I'm praying that DA passes.

Don't let that make you feel bad. I wasn't really able to really help out financially until a few months ago. Before that, I did what I could to make her life easier (cooking, cleaning, laundry, helping younger siblings with homework, etc.). If all you can do is a bit of cleaning at home, then do it. That makes life easier for your parents and I'm sure they appreciate it.

Believe me, being able to contribute financially doesn't ease the guilt. I can help now, and I still feel guilty that I cannot do more.

Same here, I've never had a real job either. I feel guilty about it too, but my parents never allowed me to work throughout high school since they wanted me to focus on school. Now that I've been looking for a job I can't find one. I have done a few odd jobs for the family and I do help out around the house though. I also help my mom babysit her friend's son as well as my 1 year old brother. Don't worry, you aren't the only one.

I'm glad to hear this. I had been looking into getting a work visa to the UK, or maybe Canada, after I finish my Bachelors, and when they ask about previous earnings (you can calculate your score on their websites sometimes, to see if you'd qualify for a visa) I always have to say zero, same as with experience. I feel like this undocumented thing is hurting my chances of living anywhere else as well. Can't live in the U.S. not Canada or Europe, it's frustrating.

I am currently unemployed and it sucks, but I have worked before. At an upholstery shop when I was 16 and for 2 years in a fast food joint. dont feel to stressed out about it cuz it sucks more getting use to working and, all of a sudden, being unemployed.

I guess I helped out financially by moving out of my house! But my mom paid for my college.
I've always had a job since I was 17. There's too many things I like to buy, that well, momma dukes won't be providing.

But my brother who is also undocumented seems to have a hard time keeping a job long term. Guess it just depends on you work ethic and current needs, ect.
