Hello. I am an Asian American but unfortunately I am undocumented. I, too, am awaiting for the passage of the DA.

I currently am a senior and will be applying to Amherst College and Vassar mainly because they accept and fund undocumented students who qualify. Do you think it is a good idea to mention I am undocumented in the application essay? If I do, am I risking my self to something? Yes, they do permit undocumented students to attend and receive aid but im wondering if there's a catch.

Thank you.

It's okay to say so. I on the other hand think its better if they accept you first and then you tell them to try and work out some sort of plan with them about financing your education before you reserve your spot in the class. I think they would be a lot more willing to work with you if they've already accepted you. Others in this board have said to use the fact that you're undocumented as being something you've overcome to get you where you are. Whatever works for you.

YES DO IT I got into a private college and I mentioned it and nothing bad happened so you won't get deported if you talk about it to the school, if that's what you're asking.

Are you in NewYork? I thought CUNY/SUNY accepts illegals.
Boston U accepts illegal immigrants but I don't think they provide you any funds
I'm applying to colleges too but I didn't do any research.
But I think you shouldn't say "I'm illegal" straight out. Cause when you did common app or whatever app you did. You claim that you're NEITHER USC or PR. And you don't have any kind of valid visa that permits you to stay here. I'm pretty sure from that they will get the idea that you're illegal.

ok thank you.

however, on the common app info section, should i be straight up?

Ex. I am an undocumented student. and so on...

do you tink its good to write kind of subjectively? ex. I am a undocumented student. I am aware that my oppurtunities for a higher education is limited. However, i have worked hard up till now and have spent considerable time making sure i get a education

Guys colleges outside of Georgia and South Carolina cannot deny you admittance just because you're undocumented. How is this not common knowledge?
