that doesnt mean people over 30 can qualify under DA. you still havwe to eb under 30 to qualify for retroactive. this retroactive basically means that as long as you are under 30, if you have finished your college/military requirement, you are eligible to change your status under DA . if you are over 30, you dont qualify for this retroactive. simple legalese i think you are confused with.

Call, call, call. We need to pass a bill that will qualify 2+ years of college and/or up to 35.

And the waiver doesn't address final orders of deportation. This is senseless - apparently it only excludes several thousand people. 18,000 or 20,000 out of 12 MILLION; barely 1%, won't make much of a difference.

This is not the compromise the Republicans requested from the White House; they want tax cuts and from the looks of it, they are going to get them. So they, as always, will get what they want. The compromise on DA is unnecessary. They really should pass DA with the original age cap and also address the deportation issue.

Exactly. This is the point I am trying to drive home! Many people here only post ideas that have hardly any substance. We need more intelligent / substance discussions. The new bill S.3992's Retroactive Benefits has an age cap of 30 as compared to ALL other versions before it, there were no age cap. This change removes ~ 1% or 18,000 Dreamers. The latter are the resulting fruit of DA. No need to wait for the 2 years of college or military service. These Dreamers are fully qualified and ready to join the work force now.

If Reid thinks by sacrificing these 1% / 18,000 of Dreamers will get more Republican votes, more power to Reid. Honestly, there are so many other compromising points available than adding the age cap on Retroactive Benefits.

Let's go DA! This issue will not be dropped. It can't. It makes no sense. Either go with the 35 or include retro that includes waiver of age cap if 2+ years have been completed.

Again, there is no logical reason for changing the retroactive provision.Especially when this bill, when first introduced, was intended for those that will be left out due to this new Senate version. House should go first and compromise that provision.

And I do agree there are a few idiots on this forum that think this small number of original dreamers is the difference between republicans supporting it or not.
