Congressional procedure is a bit crazy and certainly confusing, so people are probably feeling puzzled about what happened in the Senate earlier today.

The basics are this: Senate Majority Harry Reid wanted to buy some time for a DREAM Act vote because there are still some Senators who are wavering on their votes. And we want this thing passed, dangit.

He moved to “vitiate” the cloture vote twice – which is a fancy way of saying not have the vote. Both times, his move was rejected.

He then moved to “table” the vote, until the Senate could take up the House version of the bill that was passed last night. (yay!)

That motion passed with 59 votes, which means the House version of the bill will be voted on later in the Senate.

If you’re still confused, please know that the bottom line is this: this is a good thing.

All in all this gives DREAM a better chance in passing, especially when considering that there are Senators on the fence who do not want to be targeted and be in the spotlight twice. I know, but I'm confused why the fuck Sen. Menendez (D-NJ) Voted against to motion and Sen. Vitter-R-acist-La voted for the motion, as well as Sen. crapo-r-acist flip-flopper .
That's the only question I'm asking myself

Did not understand if the motion did pass with only 59 votes, and was thinking you still needed 60.

If you wanna go with whats up to date with the dream act....Go to google NEWS and TYPE dREAM ACT....bUT everything is fine PEOLE....dont get scared...this is just buying us time for us to call more senators...

yeah theres alot of negativity comments from misinformed people, they r saying that the dream act did not pass lol. for all of us that watched c span (well bf wached for me) we know what is really going on

A lot of you guys who are freaking out need to go and read how the US government works go before asking any questions. We are claiming that we deserve the Dream act because of our scholar achievements so by you guys just asking lame questions demerits our cause. Come on guys do some research.
