Let's say we have 53 definite yes votes out of the 58-member Democratic caucus. We could also have Republicans Lugar (54), Bennett (55), Collins (56), Murkowski (57). Then, I would tell Harry Reid to dig into those reluctant Democratic Senators. My first suggestions would be coax Dorgan (5, Baucus (59), and Manchin (60).

O course, if we have closer to 55 definite yes votes from members of the Dem caucus, it will be easier than this.

I don't think we have 53 definite YAY's from the Democrats. According to this site, we have closer to 50 definite Dem Yays.

The problem is all Dem will not stick together because moderate democrats that were elected in strong republican states will vote against it there are something like 5 of them or so . Politicians never stop running for there next election they don't give a dam about the people.

Is Snowe a likely no? I always thought she'd be one of the few republicans who would vote yes

Dorgan was one one of the 19 senators who signed the senate version of the DA that was later tabled. Which means he is a sure vote, I was surprised as well when I saw it. Don't count on Prior though.
