totally apply online thats what i did the second time around....they were the ones asking me for my paperwork inorder to inlist me in the semester...its way easier online..the first time i did it in person was not to difficult but its a lil better...saves you the trouble of telling the whole office and any student thats around there that your undocumented...

Yup. That is the worst part---having student workers working at the admission office. Pretty embarrassing.

AB-540 isn't a "program," it's the law! Since 2001, all California CC's must comply and Cypress is no exception!

Also, you shouldn't have had to show any expired documents. All you had to do was ask for the AB-540 affidavit, which you then sign. It simply states you will apply for legalization as soon as you can.
http://aad.english.ucsb.edu/AB540.html

No doubt this asshole is screwing other students from their right to an education, so here's your plan of action.
1. get that person''s name
2. speak with a supervisor or whoever is in charge there who will actually help you get into Cypress and inform them of what that person is doing.
3. contact an organization that will bring this discrimination to light.

Try:
-The ACLU of southern california http://www.aclu-sc.org/contents/view/9
-Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles
http://www.chirla.org/ Toll free 1-888-6CHIRLA
-National Immigration Law Center http://www.nilc.org/index.htm

You can't be denied admission to college. Take it up with the higher-ups of the college, or call the ACLU.

Interesting part is that their web mentions about AB540. How weird! I know this city's mayor proposed that CA should adopt similar bill to Arizona's law like 2 months ago. I was scared back then.

might as well try again or try different college.
A friend of mine goes there on AB540. You are being discriminated man go file a lawsuit on his ass and get your 2 million then bail out.

Was it only one person who told you this? And was it some student-worker behind the desk at admissions or someone from the actual administration?

Seriously, you ARE being discriminated against and no doubt you're not the only one at there who is. You've been a given a special opportunity to help future students. Don't just take the easy way and apply online or something. TAKE ACTION AND KEEP US POSTED!

I thought I was discriminated and didn't know it was easier to submit applications online. At first I was afraid that I would be denied because I don't have SSN. Duh, all I had to do was basically don't put anything in SSN even though the red warning signs show up that i am missing SSN.

It was the student worker and then he was puzzled and then went to ask someone in the back and then he came back saying that not all schools participated AB540. So I was dismayed. As long as I can get in, I will just forgive their ignorance, or racism or whatever.

Thanks to many of your advices, I was able to apply online and does this mean I am in??? Basically all I have to do is bring my high school diploma and application and residency form for in-state tuition, am I right?

From the Application Confirmation letter I received:~~~~~

Congratulations! Your application has been accepted and you are on your way to becoming a Cypress College student!
Here are 4 easy steps to help you register for classes as a new student:

Step #1 Online Admissions Application
Your application has been submitted. Please proceed to step #2.

~~~~~
and it goes on with many more steps....
