What kind of phone message are you leaving?

What kind of phone message are you leaving when calling these politicians?


There's so much hooplah over call this guy and that guy...

and while it's all well intentioned...

is anyone concerned over poorly left messages?

Maybe the kind that lasts 4 minutes and is muddled in "ahh", "ummms", "ya knows", and overused pro-Dream Act lines such as: "through no fault of our own" and "the only country I know" ?

I mean, c'mon. 100,000 messages...there's gotta be a few "no don't say that, dude!" messages.

What are your best can't miss--unique selling point--irresistable offer--sales pitches when calling these guys?

My Fail call was when they asked me for my zip code and I gave them one from the state I was calling and then they asked what city..Uhhh..Ooops.. I said LA..and I was calling to the East Coast.

SOOOO.. Make sure you guys are prepared to give city, zip, ect!!!

I'm calling them and giving them my opinions about the START Act. But what I really focus on is the Dream Act. I tell them about the repercussions of doing nothing. I also ask them to not support DADT.

you are dumb , DADT need to go, and it's going to get repeal this tomorrow ... I'm not so sure about the DREAM Act

Hello, I'm calling in support of a very important piece of legislation known as the Dream Act and if I may I would like to point out a few things on why it would be wise for the senator to support this bill.

First-It will allow many young people like myself that consider themselves American first. To continue to live in and contribute for the benefit of this great country.

Second - the bill should really not be seen as part of the problem of immigration flow. We consider ourselves American kids already, we all grew up here, and in all other aspects but a piece of paper we are the same as our citizen friends and neighbors. The problem of immigration flow is something that unfortunately wasn't dealt with back when it should have been dealt with. (The senators had to have solved this issue before things like the Dream Act appeared). So please don't blame us American kids for the problems the senators did not address!

Third - Hispanics and the Latino population even if they are Republican widely support this issue, and they are watching! So if the senator is not going to vote for this bill because it is truly a thing that should be looked as a something that just makes sense in a humanitarian point of view. (Which is sad) At least let him know that they will lose the Latino vote.

Forth - We understand that while some republicans say that democrats didn't bring this up when they had more political power they didn't bring it up because there were more important issues to address for the benefit of the USA as a whole. Like health care, the economy etc. But we dreamers believe that after almost a decade that the Dream Act bill first introduced (in August of 2001) it’s become time to pass this bill.

Please no more excuses.
No more false statements.

Introduce yourself to whoever answers the phone. Let them know you are a constituent, and that you support passage of the DREAM Act.

Example Script for Your Calls

Hello, my name is __________ and I'm a constituent who strongly supports the DREAM Act. I believe that young people willing to serve in the military or attend college deserve a pathway to citizenship.

If the Senator is supporting the DREAM Act, you have my thanks. If the Senator is undecided or planning to oppose DREAM, please ask him/her to stand up for what is right. Can I count on the Senator's support?

Some calls should be something along the lines "I am a voting citizen from _____(Senator's state) and am calling to urge that Senator____ support the DREAM Act....add your own little memorable twist"

It's always safe to email or fax instead if you guys are unsure of what to say. I never call....I stutter on the phone and started sounding stupid, so I just fax...lol

"Hi I'm calling Senator Hutchison to tell her to vote for the DREAM Act" and then I left my zip code. Cornyn's box was full so yeah

They sent me to Hutchison's box so after I said that I just hung up.
It was my first time calling so I was kinda nervous.
