Yeah the first few times I called it sounded like I breaking down I was so nervous, it might have been good, being sentimental. After that, I got my monologue down to a science, though.

Anyways. Basically I say that I have no family in my country of origin, except for dad's side, the guy who wanted nothing to do with me, and that my mom is legally here(true, but she can't sponsor me since I'm older than 21). My choices are leave my mom behind for 10 years+ (she's 66 atm), or keep her company and live like a fugitive...

I say that my ambitions aren't to become rich or a doctorate, but to help people (want to be a first responder).

Let's see what else... They would be making this a special Christmas to 1000's of people.

Guys,

You should never mention that YOU WILL BE THE BENEFICIARY OF THE DREAM ACT!!! They do not care about our opinion. They want to hear from legal residents and most importantly U.S. citizens who can vote...For instance, immigration states that they want to hear about the legal alien or citizen's suffering not the beneficiary's in relation to a waiver of grounds of inadmissibility (to remove 10-year ban). Thus, if you call DO NOT SAY YOU WILL BENEFIT OR HOW IT WILL AFFECT YOU because they won't listen/care.

So I've been looking up state cities& zip codes and saying I'm from there, and it just backfired. The lady who answered at Conrad's office asked for a street address because they want to "ensure his constituents are being heard, not just anyone like Californians"....wonder if they have caller id?

Well, I want to make calls but I don't want to lie about being a constituent. I'll either give them my story that can they just shrug it off, or not call at all.

First-It will allow many young people like myself that consider themselves American first. To continue to live in and contribute for the benefit of this great country.

Second - the bill should really not be seen as part of the problem of immigration flow. We consider ourselves American kids already, we all grew up here, and in all other aspects but a piece of paper we are the same as our citizen friends and neighbors. The problem of immigration flow is something that unfortunately wasn't dealt with back when it should have been dealt with. (The senators had to have solved this issue before things like the Dream Act appeared). So please don't blame us American kids for the problems the senators did not address!

Third - Hispanics and the Latino population even if they are Republican widely support this issue, and they are watching! So if the senator is not going to vote for this bill because it is truly a thing that should be looked as a something that just makes sense in a humanitarian point of view. (Which is sad) At least let him know that they will lose the Latino vote.

Forth - We understand that while some republicans say that democrats didn't bring this up when they had more political power they didn't bring it up because there were more important issues to address for the benefit of the USA as a whole. Like health care, the economy etc. But we dreamers believe that after almost a decade that the Dream Act bill first introduced (in August of 2001) it’s become time to pass this bill.

Please no more excuses.
No more false statements.

Pass the Dream Act!
how long does all of that take?

Phone calls are not my thing, I just changed to sending e-mails, I just realized I am far more eloquent when I write, plus I suspect I must sound like a nervous wreck in the messages I have been leaving.

But when I did call, my main points where in focusing the importance of passing the DREAM Act this year.

65,000 people graduate every year from high school and are facing too many obstacles that prevent them from continuing their studies. Or the original beneficiaries from the first time the DREAM Act was proposed 10 years ago are about to cross the current age cap.

I also focused on my current status, explaining how my family has legal status, how I fell through the cracks and even though I came at age 7 because I turned 21 before my parents naturalized their status I could potentially be banned to a country that's not my own for 10 years and a country I barely remember. I explain the flaw that affected me, how they use the term children and how after turning 21 one becomes the son or daughter and thus no longer considered an immediate relative, how I am more at the peak of benefiting this country economically right now.

Then I go through the accomplishments of my high school being nationally recognized and my accomplishments in that school, how I graduated as cum laude with a 4.6 weighted GPA, getting into a private university and getting a private scholarship, how the obstacles of being undocumented are affecting me now and I end with my hopes and aspirations and what I hope to accomplish if the DREAM Act passes.

I thank them for their time.

Every message that I write, or that I speak I try to personalize, make it seen that I am not just changing the names everywhere or reading a script.... pfft... I probably sound so nervous speaking that it should be pretty obvious I am not following a script.
