Any Dreamers in Med School?

Does anyone know anyone else in our situation that is in Med School. I've been blessed to make it all the way through 3rd year, but soon we'll be applying to internships/residencies (which of course, I can't do).

I was really counting on DA to pass, and now without it, my MD degree will be completely useless (what's the point of working my ass of this whole time).

Anyways, I need some advice. Has anyone here know of anyone who has gone through this and what they did?

(I'm sure as hell not going back to my home country).

The second step is more complex, how to pay for it?
A handfull of them would give you based need financial aid, others merit scholarships.
It's hard, but try hard and you will reach your dream.

Not a big deal if your visa is expired at least for being accepted, the real problem is financial aid, difficult but possible.

Yeah, money is the biggest problem for med schools. Most Physical Science PhD programs will just tell that you cannot get matriculated without status, but med schools seem to allow undocumented as long as they can pay for it (which makes perfect sense, since they provide education - why you can't do the same for Physics confounds the hell out of me).

I know it is easier in TX due to financial aid being available, but from what I heard TX med schools get overwhelmed with applications, especially now when the economy is tougher, from USCs so you'd have a big disadvantage

Soclose: Where do you go to school (just name the state, I don't need specifics) and were you able to subsidize any of the tuition? I mean did you take out a loan and are looking at a massive med school debt, or were you able to get some grants/scholarships? (from what I heard there aren't many for med school students)

So if I'm planning to be a Pharmacist PharmD. (chemistry based) does that mean I can't enroll in it?
Since I'm good with every science in general, if I can't enroll in physical science like chemistry then I'll just go for pre med. Only reason I chose pharm over med was because pharm takes less years to complete

Medical studies do not require residency, but to become a doctor you do.

You won't have a problem getting your BA but getting a PhD is a completely different matter because most science grad schools operate on a salary basis i.e. they cover your tuition and living expenses and you have to work for them, which is considered work by all legal standards and you need papers for that.

Professional schools however (Law, Medicine, MBA) are usually fully covered by the student so the programs do not care about student's residency.

Soclose, I also completed my third year of med school wondering the same thing. I am taking year long leave of absence to delay graduation and also help pay off some debt. I was also counting on the Dream act to pass but now I'm waiting on a miracle. I look at it this way, if by the grace of God and lots of hard work I was able to make it this far, then I need to have the faith that somehow my dream will come true in the end. I'll let you know if I hear about any one who safely made it to residency.

Hey people. I'm a new registered user, but I've been reading the forum for a few months now. This is the first time i read a thread on medical school.
I graduated with a biology b.a. and now i'm stuck because i can't apply to med school, at least all med schools in Texas appear to require some kind of legal status in order to apply. Those of you who have been able to get in, could you share your story with me and tell me how you guys did it? Thanks.
