This is a very tough problem indeed. I wish everyone who wanted to be an American citizen could become an American citizen but I believe even the individuals on this site would acknowledge that is not feasible. So often life is just about luck and it shouldn't be like that. America is not utopia but most Americans have good intentions. I will probably be blocked soon for speaking out against the Dream Act but I wish everyone here good luck in their endeavors. The Dream Act is not the way, but I believe a way exists. Do not lose hope.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

While so many Americans take alot of things for granted many undocumented kids are working their butts off through college or working harder in high school. They deserve rights as well, what no matter how hard they work their suppose to do " immigrant jobs" just because of the fact that their immigrants? Honestly get out this site this place isnt for you .

Maybe it'll help you understand my positions if you read my posts here: Graham says we hurt future immigration discussions.

Yeah, because he's been so helpful in the past two years in getting real immigration reform passed right? Give me a break.
I'm talking about what I think, the hell with Graham. Do any of read beyond the current post in front of you?

You must have mixed me up with someone else because I have never said anyone was not wanted. The gist of almost all of my posts have been pro legal immigration. Look, it almost goes without saying at this point that I was opposed to the Dream Act as it was written but I do believe similar legislation could pass. I stated somewhere in another thread the key to getting the legislation to pass will be to find a way for the children who are here illegally to not be punished for the actions of their parents while not creating an opportunity for others to exploit in the future. I do not claim to have the answers but I know you can use the arguments against the Dream Act to help you craft legislation that will pass.

Lyrics200x- First and foremost I do understand what your saying but your earlier posts were not Pro-Dream . You came here with RANDYL and bashed us completely in our time of despair, Yes of despair, where we as youth suffered because we couldnt move on with our lives, to drive, to go college to serve in the only country we know as home .Basic things that alot of American citizens take for granted. Please leave this site.

The problem is that instead of having open dialogue and understanding you take any comments as racist or bashing.

You cannot paint all anti-Dreamers with one paintbrush. Instead of just listening to one side of the argument why not try to have understanding for both sides. Remember there is always two sides to every argument.

What you Dreamers failed to understand was the outpouring calls against the Dream Act. In fact even Senator Durbin did not understand. You see it was not Democrat, Republican or about being Racist. It was parents, American parents fighting for their childrens and grandchildrens rights.

All the Dreamers walking through the halls talking to our representatives, making calls to our representatives angered American parents. As much as you might like to think so, they are not your representatives, they are representatives of U.S. citizens. Your representatives are in your embassies and consulates or in your home countries.

American parents got tired of hearing Senator Durbin saying that the Dreamers are the best and brightest and America needs them. Stop and think about it, this was a total slam against American students. Before you go on to tell me that Dreamers do not take anything away from American students and if they cannot compete with the Dreamers, etc. Let me tell you I have a college student on the Deans List. So I know about impacted classes in CA Universities.. I know how the registeration process works each semester. Boils down to who is the fastest and luckiest on the computer. Makes no difference whether the student is a citizen or not.

You also don't understand that scholarships are geared for hyphenated Americans. If you come from an unhyphenated middleclass family your out of luck. Take the time look through the scholarships.

I would also advise you all to check further into what military standards are for enlistment. You need to understand contrary to what Senator Durbin might have said, you cannot get a security clearance in the military if you are not a U.S. citizen. You cannot become an officer and your job assignments are limited. There was nothing in the Dream Act that would have changed this.

I just want you to understand this really is not a political or racist fight from many anti-Dreamers, it is a fight for our children.

I read all you posted. We didn't force any vote into anyone, we simply lobbied for the law, the way that many have done so before us. The education in this country is not what it used to be, and you can go bash the people that come with student visas and skilled labor visas; they come here legally from Pakistan and India in drones of 50k and get the jobs. Don't blame me that I've been here since 5.

Take your frustrations somewhere else. The colleges are a business, and the job market seeks for talent, if they don't find it; they will go overseas. Here you got people complaining that no foreign language should be learned in schools, while the rest of the world makes it mandatory to know 3 languages to compete.

Your frustrations are legit, but I am sure you are the same crowd thats also looking to bash the legal entry. This whole thing about coming legally would still not change the fact that your child will still have to compete both in school and in the workforce.

When visas are granted, no1 pays attention to if your child registered already or not. Schools want money, thats why the college presidents supported this act; not out of sympathy.

And as far as the military option, under the Dream Act we would have gotten a special visa class; you can join the military if you are on a certain visa, its possible. People use it to speed up their naturalization process.

When I go to school, I have to compete with all the students there. The guy that just came from Russia legally a month ago gets the top grade. But the American student wants to listen to the iPod and skip class just because mommy or financial aid pays for it. Not everyone is cut for school. And this is coming from someone that comes from far away, no person will care about patriotism, cause in the end; money puts food on the table.

Your side of your hypothesis is easier to support because its the control, while ours is the variable. But when people do go and lobby for laws, don't lie under oath. Grab the bill and read it, disagree with it for rational reasons; don't make up lies.

but anyways, you won... most of us will have no choice but to stay in the shadows even more and then leave with the best of hopes. One day you'll be in my shoes and you'll ask for people to give you a chance. You will look into the eyes of your fellow Americans and you'll be kicked to the curb.

So from now on this is what should be written in the Statue of Liberty...
------------------------
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free;
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me
So we can humiliate them and send them back to you,
With their spirits destroyed.
-------------------------
This is why we just can't pack up and leave our home the USA!
