Ok so now that the Dream Act didnt pass, i have to get myself a DL and try to live a semi normal life. My question is, for how many years does WA give out the DL? I'm 18, idk if they give people under 21 less years. In my state if you're under 21 you get a DL for 3 years then once you turn 21 they give you another DL. Also, is it possible to get an ID the same day you go to the DMV? and How long does it take to get an appt for a road test? Thanks guys!

Last for 5 years. I'm 18 and I have a WA DL. I got it 3 months ago.
No it's not possible to get an WA DL the same day but you do get a paper temporary one that last for 45 days.
You have to wait in your resident address in WA until the mail that contains your DL arrives which takes 1 week -1month.
It takes about 1 month to schedule a road test.
They changed the rules recently that requires you to have SSN or a valid proof of residency which is utility bills, etc.

Dumb question... but they probably won't accept a Maryland permit as a permit so that I wouldn't have to wait the month to get the DL, would they?

I don't think they would you would probably have to take the permit test over again which shouldn't be too hard seeing as that you already passed before. I was also thinking about doing the same going to Washington and getting my DL there but I have to find a way to get an apartment for a couple months.
